Sophia will have her first child GENEVA (UPI)—Sophia Loren is now assured of having her long-awaited first child in two to three weeks, her doctors said today. The Italian actress has been hidden in an 18th floor suite of a Geneva hotel since the end of July. She has been under the constant care of one of Europe’s foremost gynecologists, Prof. Hubert de Watteville of Geneva. After two miscarriages, Miss Loren was taking no chances this time. Barred from the suite was everyone except for her husband, producer Carlo Ponti, and close relatives. Ponti a month ago paid more than $100,000 for a town house next door to De Watteville’s private residence. Miss Loren did not move into the house immediately, preferring to wait for her baby at the hotel. When the time comes she will be taken to the clinic where De Watteville will deliver the child. For some time following the birth, it was understood the star will stay at the new house to be close to the doctor. Today wheh asked for the latest medical report, De Watteville said, “Miss Loren is in excellent health and is assured of having her baby.” “There is no need to worry at all. It will be a normal birth if possible, and I think it will be. I do not agree with Caesarean operations unless absolutely necessary.”

Electors elect Richard Nixon
By United Press International Electors in 50 states and the District of Columbia have chosen Richard M. Nixon as the next president of the United States. There was only one defection from Nixon, that a North Carolina opthalmologist who voted for George C. Wallace.
Also noting that Wallace’s third party candidacy threatened to deny any presidential candidate a majority of the electoral vote, and throw the election into the House of Representatives, electors in some states called for abolishing the electoral college in favor of direct popular elections of the president.
Electors in most states are bound by tradition alone to cast their ballot for the man who wins the most popular votes in their states.
Commenting on the way the United States elects a president, California assemblyman Kent Stacey said Monday, “I think it stinks.”
“It’s just possible we are the last,” said Gov. Ronald Reagan State Farm gun club The State Farm Gun Club monthly shoot will not be held in December.

Continues effort WASHINGTON (UPI) — Rep. Lee H. Hamilton, D-Ind. Saturday vowed continued efforts to establish a state or federal park around the falls of the Ohio River between Kentucky and Indiana in spite of the rejection of the area last week by the National Park Service. The service said the area was not suitable because of winter and spring flooding and because the natural setting and historical value of the area had been marred by railroads, highway bridges and other man-made encumbrances.
who joined in giving the state’s 40 electoral votes to Nixon. James Dolliver, an aide to Gov. Daniel Evans of Washington said of the ballot casting: “We had a pleasant little anachronism.”
On Jan. 6, before both Houses of Congress, Nixon will be declared the new president and his running mate, Spiro T. Agnew, chosen as the vice president. Ironically, the opening of the ballots, will be overseen by Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey—the loser.
In Michigan, former state Democratic chairman Zolton A. Ferency, resigned his seat as an elector rather than cast a ballot for Humphrey. Ferency, who supported Sen. Eugene J. McCarthy, said he acted for “reasons of conscience.” He was replaced by an elector who voted for Humphrey.
Reports from UPI bureaus told of only defector, Dr. Lloyd W. Bailey, a North Carolina opthalmologist who refused to vote for Nixon and cast his ballot for George C. Wallace. On Nov. 5, the Nixon-Agnew ticket carried 32 states with 302 electoral votes. Humphrey and Sen. Edmund S. Muskie, DMaine, carried 13 states and the District of Columbia with 191 electoral votes and Wallace and Curtis E. LeMay carried five states with 45 electoral votes.

In memoriam In loving memory of Roy R. White, Sr. who passed away 5 years ago on December 18,1963. Dad you are not forgotten though on earth you are no more, Still in memory you are with us as you always were before. You often said we would miss you, We lost our best and dearest Dad when we lost you. We saw you fading like a flower. But could not make you stay. We nursed you with loving kindness until God called you home.
Oh! Dad dear we loved you, Our hearts ache for you still, Forgotten by some others, But by us you never will. Sadly missed by wife Dorothy, sister, Hazel, children, Roy Jr., Martha, Sharon and David, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

DEAR GALS: Do you roll up your hair at night and can’t stand to sleep on those rollers? Plus sometimes it seems that the bottom part of your hair from the ears down needs a new perm. Yet there’s no need to get one when the top and sides are still good . . . Well, here’s something that works for me: Instead of putting the shower cap over all your hair when you take a tub bath or shower, first brush your hair, part the top, pull it up and fasten either with a comb or a clip. Then put only the top part inside the shower cap. The straggly bottom part will be left hanging down. These ends will get just enough moisture in ’em so you can use hair clips or bobby pins to roll ’em up! Also you can sleep on these hair clips or bobbies the whole night through and they don’t make an indentation or hurt your head as a roller does. This is also a good idea when you want to redo it in the middle of the week. You
can hold your hair brush under the water faucet, shake it out real good and literally brush this lower part of your hair from the bottom up. Then twist it in curls, get under your hair dryer and it’s even cpiicker. You don’t have to dampen your whole head. Sure saves time.
