Bible Thought
I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall
he live. -John 11:25.
Death seems to . be an end. Those who believe in Christ find that death is only a doorway
into a better life.

Unseamy sight WICHITA, Kan. (UPI)-Court-room spectators laughed Friday every time Sedgwick County Atty. Keith Sanborn bent over the counsel table to look at notes while questioning witnesses at a preliminary hearing. Finally Defense Attorney Chester Lewis came to Sanborn’s rescue, in a whispered conversation with Common Pleas Judge Daniel Dwyer. Dwyer recessed the hearing and escorted Sanborn to his chambers, where the judge, a bachelor, sewed up a gaping rip in the seat of the Country Attorney’s trousers. CLEARING THINGS UP? Medic Reminds: Calories Count
SAN FRANCISCO <UPI) — That extra weight being carried around by Dad, Mom or even Junior might be the result of “calories that don’t count,” says Dr. Jerold Lowenstein. Those are calories that are consumed, but pointedly ignored, by overweight people. Lowenstein, of the University of California’s San Francisco Medical Centers, chided fathers who fail to count the calories “consumed off your wife’s and the children’s plates” or those acquired “if they happen to eat lunch while standing up.” He cited housewives “who spend a good part of the afternoon sampling the evening meal while it cooks.” The moment of truth comes when the non-caloric-counter steps on the scales in the doctor’s office, Lowenstein said. The scales count all calories consumed — whether standing up, lying down, nibbling off someone else’s plate or sampling the cooking.

UK Alt FOLKS: It’s finally here! So a Merry, Merry Christinas to all my friends . . . I hope that you are enjoying the day with all your relatives, and your wonderful friends and neighbors . . . And I hope, too, that you don’t value the gifts you got so much by what they cost, but by the “thought-and-re-ineniberance” they represent —with love from the giver. That’s what today is all about. May God be with you and ail of yours throughout this joyful season. Love from my heart, Heloise * * * DEAR HELOISE: I have a small hallway with four doors and it just wasn’t attractive. My husband really saved the day. He bought some old sheet music at an auction and wallpapered the entire walls of the hallway with that! It goes perfectly with the white ceiling and now my hall is cheery and very unique. Joanne Bush * * * Agreed. Too bad it wasn’t covered with “How to get the ironing done faster, the laundry all done in one load, and the dishes done with magic.” Kh ? Heloise :{: * * DEAR HELOISE: A large oatmeal box may be used to replace the cardboard liner in one of those tall hair roller bags. Peel off the label ... if
your bag material is transparent. It fits beautifully. Mrs. N. S. K.
DEAR HELOISE: On wash day, instead of hanging up my husband's and children’s socks with clothespins along the line, I hit upon a brilliant idea. Nearly everybody has either a box hedge or a fence. Don't they ? Just shake each sock and lay it over that fence or on the box hedge. Not only does it save clothespins and clothesline space, but the socks themselves will never have what I call a ‘bite.’’ Now what do you think of that, Heloise? Myrtle and George
I think it’s about the trickiest thing we’ve had come along yet. I can bet a dollar bill your husband helps you do the laundrv. God Bless you both. Heloise P.S. Not only does it save you pinning them up, but taking them down. If you gals will learn to time yourself and see how long it takes to clothespin each sock to the line, then add the time it takes you to unpin those socks—each week —and multiply that by the number of days you expect to live and do laundry, you can see how much time you’re gonna save. Whew! We could even take a vacation, couldn’t we? Heloise
