can continue its winning ways, Tucker summed it up like this. “Our game depends on Jerry’s well-being.” “If he’s well and able to start, we figure to play a good game. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
received a vote in the two years that we had the Semi State team and the year following.” In summing up his team, Rady concluded, “I think we’re ok.” Cloverdale Coach A1 Tucker can’t declare his team in A-l Shape, mainly because of the flu bug--either the Hong Kong variety, or just the plain old Putnam County kind—but is hopeful of having his key player ready to go by tip-off time Saturday night. “We’re doubtful whether or not Jerry McCullough will be in the lineup or not. Jerry has been out of school and returned to practice only this week,” Tucker related. “The night of the Greencastle game, he was running a temperature of about 101 degrees. He had been to a doctor that morning and we were assured that he would be able to start. After that game, he became sick and has been out of the lineup since.” The Clovers’ coach said if the 5-foot 10 senior doesn’t start, he will substitute Dave Branneman in his place. The patterns, on both offensive and defense, won’t be much different, according to Tucker. “We will shuffle the lineup differently,” the second year coach confessed, “with Ron McKamey starting in place of Charlie Coon.” Cloverdale beat Bainbridge twice last year, once in regular season play and in the county tournament. To the Honorable Francis Hamilton, Judge of The Putn£ Circuit Court, 64th Judicial C
cuit of Indiana.
We the Grand Jury, report that on the 25th day of November, 196 8 we inspected the Putnam County Home, and made the following findings and recommendations with reference there-
to.
1. The premises were found to be very clean. 2. That the plaster in some of the room needs to be repaired or replaced. 3. More modern light fixtures would improve the appearance and at mosphere. 4. That improvements had been made by the matron, such as slip covers and curtains that were cheerful. and donations of furniture by the nurses home added much to the appearance and comfort. 5. We recommend that the institution be continued, as we feel it serves a very useful purpose in the communitv. We, the Grand Jury, report this oay, the 5th of December 196 8, and present one indictment against Raymond Davis for the crime of Reckless Homicide, said indictment marked a True Bill, signed by the Foreman of said Grand Jury, and endorsed by the FYosecuting Attorney of Putnam County, Indiana. This Grand Jury makes this report as an interim report and shows the Court that they are continuing investigations of other matters which will require time to assemble evidence, and that they have recessed at this date subject to recall by notice of the Prosecuting Attorney. Respectfully submitted, G lenn E. Carson, Foreman. Dec.13-IT
Tucker knows the pressure a game like this one can bring, but hopes his team won’t be rattled too much. “I expect them to perform well, and I think we’ll be ready for the game mentally,” “We don’t necessarily figure to play a running game,” Tucker emphasized, but we’ll run if we can control it. But, we like to take advantage of a situation like this if it presents itself.” A standing room only crowd can be counted on, and if there’s a one-foot space anywhere in the old gym it won’t be there long. A game like this one doesn’t happen often, but when it does, you know it. Any remaining tickets—an< don’t count on them--sold on a first come, first serve basis after tickets are sold to fans at the two schools today. Christmas shopping takes a bai’kseat tomorrow night in cloverdale and Bainbridge with the stores closing up for the game. Meanwhile, the Green, castle police will be aiding the city budget by finding as many illegally parked cars or whatever they can. That’s the kind of game this is. Big School NEW YORK 'UPIi—Enrollment in the New York State University system totals 159.400 students this year, an increase of 21.000 over the last academic year. Greek lost city buried 2,500 years found
PHILADELPHIA (UPI) - The lost Greek city of Sybaris, its riches and decadent pleasure domes buried for 2,500 years, has been found on the Ionian shore of Italy. Archaeologists Guiseppe Foti of Italy and Froelich G. Rainey of the University of Pennsylvania museum announced the site discovery here Thursday night and disclosed their search was aided by an instrument developed for outer space but used in archaeology for the first time. They said they have established “beyond a reasonable doubt” that Sybaris lies beneath 15 to 18 feet of earth on the plain of Crati near Thurii, about 'Quickie TV' NEW YORK 'UPI) — A small, mobile ground station— an electronics-stuffed hut and a 16-foot antenna—was assembled in five weeks and shipped within 24 hours aboard one cargo plane by Hughes Aircraft Company to provide live television coverage of the Pope’s visit to Bogota. Colombia. High and Low BOSTON < UPI' — A survey reports that the lowest paid teacher at the secondary level is also usually the youngest— the English teacher. He averages 30.4 years old and earns $7,191 annually. The highest paid and the oldest of the high school teachers are trade and industrial instructors. They average $8,693 annually and are 45.5 years old.
a mile from the Ionian shoreline. The announcement climaxed a century-old search by scholars of many nations for the ruins of the Greek colony, reputedly the wealthiest most luxury, loving and decadent of its time. Sybaris was conquered and destroyed in 510 B.C. by its neighbors from Croton. The search by Foti’s Italian Department of Antiquities and Rainey’s museum staff lasted eight years. They said location of the ruins was due largely to an instrument called a cesium magnetometer to locate objects 20 feet below the surface. “This is the first time that an instrument of the kind developed for exploration in outer space had been used for archaeology, and it holds promise, where soil conditions are suitable, for the easy recognition of buried objects,” they said in a joint announcement. “It should eliminate much unproductive digging which has been necessary in the past.” Archaeologists drilled at the site of Sybaris and removed pieces of archaic tile and pottery and struck numerous stone structures. Ancient historians wrote that Sybarites lived a luxurious and decadent life. There was a law in Sybaris that before women could be invited to a public celebration they must be given a year’s notice to allow enough time to prepare the appropriate dresses and finery.

You are South, both sides vulnerable. The bidding has been: East South West North 1 4 Dble Pass 1 ^ Pass ? What would you bid now with each of the following five hands ? 1. 4KQ5 VJ983 ♦ATT 4.A96 2. ♦KQJ82 9A53 4K2 +394 3. +J6 9KQ74 ♦ AK3 +AQ82 4 ♦ AQ73 9AK85 +62 +AJ7 5. ♦QJ94 9AQ6 +8 +AKJ93 1. Pass. A takeout double of a suit is usually based on 13 to 20 high-card points and generally has good trump support for at least two of the three other suits. This hand makes the grade as a double, all right, but it contains no significant values beyond those already announced. Game is out of the question, since partner did not make a jump response to identify a good hand. The way to flash this message to partner is by passing at the earliest subsequent opportunity. 2. Two spades. Here, also, you have 14 high-card points, but the hand is worth 2 or 3 extra points because of the good trump fit, the doubleton diamond, and the favorable location of the king of diamonds. These plus values are best shown by raising to two spades. 3. One notrump. A direct one notrump overcall of one diamond would indicate 16 to 18 points. When the notrump bid is preceded by a double, it tends to show greater values than an immediate notrump bid. Many players would jump to

two notrump at this point, but they would be among the first to grant that they would not have opened the bidding with two notrump. The fact that they doubled and partner responded a spade does not give them either the right or the power to single-handedly undertake two notrump. It takes two to tango. 4. Three spades. With 18 giltedged points, good trumps, and a doubleton diamond, you can best show the promise of the hand by jumping to three spades. The hand is too good for two spades, and not good enough for four spades. Partner should be consulted in such hands, and the best way of doing this is by a jump to three 5. Four spades. Partner needs little more than five spades to the ten to have a chance for game. It would be overly conservative to risk partner’s passing three spades in a hand so likely to make four. You should bid what you think you can make — four spades — without putting North under unnecessary pressure.
