—Political attractive party workers last night at the fairgrounds. Some liats pushed GOP presidential candidate Richard M. Nixon. Others had hat bands endorsing the election of the man with the long name — Ruckelshaus. Robert Poor, Republican county chairman, said more than 450 tickets had been sold for the GOP rally and that an equal number of servings of fried chicken had been prepared. He said the attendance was the

best he had ever seen at a Republican rally. At the Student Union Building address, only a handful of students were on hand at the scheduled 7:30 p.m. speaking time. But when Ruckelshaus finally arrived, the group had swelled. One student leader, trying to draw students from their living quarters by using a loud public address system, invited everyone to come and hear Ruckelshaus speak. There was no loud shuffling of feet.

Finally, the announcer made one last attempted call and ended it with a long please. The coeds saved the day. They lined the Student Union steps giving the Senatorial hopeful a crowd to address.

Although Mrs. Turk enjoyed all her many gifts and cards, the best present of all was having her family all together to help celebrate her 90th birthday.

—Postal mum charge for local parcel delivery will go from 40 to 50 cents. The minimum charge for parcels destined outside the local delivery area will be raised from 50 cents to 60 cents. Almost all parcels that are charged up to $1.10 under present rates will go up 10 cents. This accounts for more than 80 per cent of all parcel post, Postmaster Albin pointed out. There will be a 15 cent hike on most parcels now charged be-

tween $1.10 and $4, and a 20 cent increase on parcels now charged over $4. Parcel post rates are based on the weight of the package and the distance it is mailed. Higher rates for the delivery of packages and catalogs are required to bring revenue from this type of mail within four per cent of operating costs, as required by law. Postmaster Albin explained. The higher rates are designed to put. parcels and catalogs, which are fourth— class

mail, on a break-even basis. Additional revenue is needed from parcel post and catalogs to offset higher costs resulting from pay increases approved last year for postal employees. Thriving MANILA <UPH — Fiiipinas Orient Airways, one of three Philippine carriers, increased its passenger volume by 79 per cent, or 65.195 passengers, in the first six months of 1968, according to President Honorio Poblador, Jr.
