County Hospital
Mrs,' Roxie M, Havelett of Punta Gorda, Fla. arrived Saturday to visit relatives and friends in Greencastle. She is a sister of Mrs. Everett Elmore, Paul Mas* on, Mrs. William B. Jones and sister-in-law to Mrs. Ralph O, Mason.
Mrs. Louise Skinner spent last weekend in Crawfordsville as the guest of her daughter and family Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cox and *hree children.

Ron Bock has been visiting his mother Mrs. Naomi Bock. He left Monday for Norfolk, W. Va. where his ship is docked. He has been in Haiti and is going to a location in the Mediterranean Sea.
The East Marion Homemakers Club will meet with Mrs. David Grimes Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at Fillmore. Kevin See and Charles Farber of Greencastle and William Boggess of Indianapolis left this weekend for Camp Joy agur, Minn, where they will begin a canoe, camping and fishing trip.

Mr. and Mrs. George Heimbaugh, Columbia, S, C., where he is with the University of South Carolina in the legal department, called on Mrs. Thad Jones last Friday. For his advanced training he studied in Salzberg,andhe was one of the students who lived in the home that formerly was the residency of former Imperial Naval officer von Tropp and his family, of which the musical 'The Sound of Music,’ is based.

I am deeply grateful and appreciate the kindness, sympathy and many beautiful floral tributes, food and cards extended by our good neighbors, relatives and friends during the illness and at the passing of my beloved wife, Mary Frances (Marie) Kendall, Mary Frances (Marie)Kendall. I especially wish to thank Rev. Dallas Rissler for his comforting message, Maurice Kersey, soloist, the organist, the pallbearers, the Rector Funeral Home for their understanding service, Dr. James B. Word of the death of Dr. William Woodrum, 89 years of age, Sunday night in Pueblo, Col., was received by Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Woodrum of Greencastle.
The Better Homes Extension Club held their August meeting at Public Service. The meeting was called to order by the president, who then led the club in the pledge to the flag and the Christian flag and the club creed.
Daughters of 1812 will meet Thursday Aug. 22 with Mrs. Muriel Huckleberry.
Kathy Ritter led singing the song of the month “In the Good Old Summertime”. The roll call was taken and 10 members answered with “a safety precaution around the house.”
M?.' and Mrs. Wayne Lewis of Terre Haute are the parents of a boy born Tuesday at St. Anthony Hospital in Terre Haute.
Lola Thompson
Funeral services for Mrs. Lola Thompson will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Overpeck Funeral Home in Dana. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday.
Final plans were made for the rummage sale. It was voted we take a tour in October. Suggestions were given as to places to visit, A committee was chosen to write to these places and to be able to report at our next meeting. Mrs. Dottie Buechler gave a demonstration on the use of the blender. She prepared several different recipes and then served the prepared dishes to the club. Mrs. Buechler had cards available for the members to copy her recipes. Everyone seemed anxious to try them.

National Scout Conference
Five local high school boys have been elected to attend the fourth National Explorer Delegate Conference of the Boy Scouts of America at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colo., from August 18 to 22. The young men, who will represent 300 Explorers in the Wabash Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America, are: John Morton, R.R. 1, Montezuma, Indiana, of Post 460; Philip Baker, 2708 Wilson, Terre Haute, Ind. of Post 369; Robert Deckard, 2612 Wallace, Terre Haute, Ind. of Post 369; Richard (Fred) Rapier, from Glenn Home, 6500 Wabash, Terre Haute, Ind. of Post 401; and Newton Cunningham, from the Glenn Home, 6500 Wabash, Terre Haute, Ind. from Post 401. The delegates will be accompanied by Claude R. Cash, R.R. 2, Rosedale, Ind., Post Advisor of Post 9. The national conference will bring together over 2,000 elected delegates to represent more than 300,000 Explorers from all parts of the Nation, according to Dewey Schoening, local district Scout Executive.

The Putnam County Historical Society will meet Wednesday Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Torrs Restaurant. Frank Ashworth, a former resident of Greencastle, who now resides in Miami, Fla. will give the program. Reservations can be gained from Mrs. William Boatright before noon, Tuesday Aug. 27.

After testing some spray paint on an extra picture frame on my patio (which has a redwood fence around It), I just drove a nail Into the fence and hung the empty frame on it to dry. That evening, some of my darling neighbors who came in to visit said, "What’s that, Heloise ?” and I replied, "What do you think it is?” Here are some of the answers they gave: "It’s a picture of the hole in the doughnut . . .” "It’s a knot hole . . .” “It’s my life!”
