R.E.M.C. offers electrical savings to members
Doctor Charley killed in auto
The Hendricks County R.E.M.C. announces new lower rates for members. The reduction will mean thousands of dollars in savings annually for the 6,200 members in Hendricks, Putnam, Montgomery, Morgan, and Marion counties. The lower rates became effective June 1, with members receiving advantage of the lower rate on the July bill payment. In the next five years, the reduced rates will result in total savines to the members of more
than $500,000. This represents an overall rate reduction of approximately eight per cent each year. The reductions were made possible through increased consumption of electricity by the R.E.M.C. members. The lower rate schedule is based on transformer size required to serve members connected load. The following Hendricks County R.E.M.C. rates listed are Rural Residential, Farm and Commercial Service (Without
Electric Water Heater) 15 KVA Transformer or less: First 30, KWHR per month, 7.0 cents: Next 30, KWHR per month, 4.5 cents: Next 140, KWHR per month, 2.2. cents: Next 400, KWHR per month, 1.7 cents: Next 400, KWHR per month, 1.4 cents: over 1000, KWHR per month, 1.2 cents. The following schedule is same
as above with the exception it has provisions for members with Electric Water Heaters: First 30, KWHR per month, 7.0 cents: Next 30, KWHR per month, 4.5 cents: Next 140, KWHR per month, 2.2. cents: Next 400, KWHR per month, 1.3 cents: Next 400, KWHR per month, 1.7 cents: Over 1000, KWHR per month, 1.2 cents.
Lower rates for single and three phase consumers with greater than 15 KVA of transformer capacity also went into effect June 1. Included is a new Large Power Service rate which will attract industry and in turn promote community and area development. R.E.M.C. members are also being offered the choices of a 175 or 400 Watt Mercury Vapor Security Light at an annual cost of $36.00 or $48.00. R.E.M.C. will install and maintain lights
at the above cost when light can be installed on existing pole. Where a pole is needed an extra charge will be included.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (UPI) - Dr. Charles Mayo, son of one of the founders of the famous Mayo Clinic, was killed Sunday on his 70th birthday when his car ran off a gravel road and overturned near his home. The hospital Monday said Mayo, who spent his entire career at the clinic and who was known as “Doctor Charley,”died as a result of injuries suffered in the accident. The accident occurred two miles from the doctor’s home, “Mayowood,” on the outskirts of Rochester.
Mayo, whose father, Dr. Charles Horace Mayo helped found the clinic in 1889, received his M.D. degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1926 and was named to the Mayo staff as a general surgeon in 1931. Misnomer LOS ANGELES (UPI)—Louis A. Hacker, 68, a golfer for 30 years and a hacker in name only, sank the third hole-in-one of his career on the Rancho Park course Sunday.
