Couple wed June 16

Miss Janet Sue Thurston became the bride of Daryl W. Branneman during a double ring ceremony June 16 at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. James Murray officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul G. Thurston, Alexandria Route 2. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne R. Branneman, Cloverdale Route 2, are the parents of the bridegroom. Bridal music was provided by Mrs. William Heritage, organist, and Stanley Ray, vocalist. The church was decorated with two gold spiral candelabra, flanked by two large baskets of white gladiolis. The pews were marked with spring rainbow ribbons, greenery and spring flowers. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a floor length cage silhouette of silk organza. The gown featured a yolk bodice, elbow length sleeves and a chapel length train. The hemline was encircled with Venice lace. Daisy medallions, centered with crystals, enhanced the front of the gown. A teired crown secured the bouffant veil of silk illusion. She carried a cascade arrangement of pink sweetheart roses and stephanotis entwined with garlands of ivy, centered with a detachable corsage of white orchids. Patty Thurston, Alexandria, attended her sister as maid of honor. She wore a turqoise gown of Dotted Swiss. The floor length gown was sytled with an empire waistline accented with daisies and featured cap sleeves and a gathered train. She carried a French woven basket of daisies, baby breath and greens. The bridesmaids were Nina Paddock, Alexandria, dressed in blue; Sue Cleaver, Muncie, dressed in pink; Janel Zawatski, Carlisle, Penn., dressed in yellow; and Virginia Webb, Franklin, dressed in mint green. They carried baskets styled like the one carried by the maid of honor, filled with daisies that matched their gowns. Mrs. Zawatski and Miss Webb are sorority sisters of the bride. Dianne Beard, flower girl, wore a gown, peach in color. She carried a white French basket and wore peach and white flowers in her hair. Dean Thurston, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. Tim Johnson, Atlanta, fraternity brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Groomsmen were John Nees, Cloverdale, Gary Staley, Quincy, Dave Voris, Windfall, and Ted Priebe, Ladoga, both fraternity brothers of the bridegroom. Tom Rhoads, Alexandria, and Phil Thurston, Ladoga, brother of the bride, were ushers. Mrs. Thurston, mother of the bride, wore a turquoise dress First transplant in Europe BRATISLAVA, Czechoslovakia (UPI)—The Czech news agency said the first heart transplant operation In Eastern Europe was performed Tuesday on a 50-year-old woman and that her new heart had begun beating on its own. The agency and Bratislava Radio said the heart donor was a 40-year-old man who was fatally injured when he fell from an apartment building and that his heart was transplanted to the breast of the woman by a team of Czech doctors in an operating lasting more than six hours.

of ribbed knit, with a matching hat and a corsage of orchids. The mother of the bridegroom, Mrs. Branneman, wore a pink dress of silk shantung with matching accessories and a corsage of orchids. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in Fellowship Hall of the church. The wedding table was covered with a floorlength satin cloth with white and silver over-net, caught with rain-bow-hued bows and flowers. For a wedding trip to Cincinnati, Ohio, the bride wore a dress and coat ensemble of white summer wool, decorated with gold buttons. The couple is residing at 320 S. East St., Tipton, Ind., where the bridegroom is a teacher of vocational agriculture. Mrs. Branneman will teach English next fall at Elwood High School.
