Greek crackdown ATHENS (UPI) — Greek schoolgirls who fail to wear a white, blue or black ribbon in their hair from now on are in trouble with the government. So are schoolboys who grow beards, let their hair grow long or wear bell-bottom trousers. Theofylaktos Papaconstantinou, the Greek education minister, issued an order to all high school students warning that any such unorthdoxy in dress and appearance must stop. The order warned police will shave the heads of boys with long hair. Schoolgirls were told to comb their hair properly and use ‘‘white, blue or black ribbons to keep them in place.”

In memoriam In loving memory of our Mother and Father, Addle M. Irwin and Robert S, Irwin who passed away June 3, 1961 and August 7, 1965 respectively. They sire not gone who pass Beyond the clasp of hand, Out from the strong embrace. They axe but come so close We need not grope with hand Nor look to see, nor try To catch the sound of feet. They have put off their shoes Softly to walk by day Within our thoughts, to tread At night our dream-led paths of sleep. They axe not lost who find The sunset gate, the goal Of all their faithful years. Not lost are they, who reach The summit of their climb, The peak above the clouds and storms. They are not lost, who find The light of sun and stars and God. Sadly missed by the children. Crewmen missing CASABLANCA (UPI) — Ten men were reported missing today after the Moroccan trawler El Kheur drifted on to rocks near Essaouira 150 miles south of here Monday and broke up in heavy seas.

DEAR FOLKS: Those of you who do not eat the skin on a tomato and so ordinarily peel them, have a little hint from me. Take any serrated knife and rub the serrated edge over the skin of the tomato, then pull the skin off! Slick as a whistle. You don’t waste one iota of the tomato. Neither does it get warm, such as when we dip them in boiling water for a few seronds to skin ’em or hold one over a gas fire.
never gets rancid, melts or deteriorates . . . Then I remove only a few' ounces at a time and put it in the small jar I use every night. It is more convenient to use and takes less space in my dresser. Those extra jars stay In the refrigerator until I am ready to use them. So you see it really is a saving in the long rim. By HORTENSE MYERS INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) — A report made public Monday, by Governor Branigin on Indiana’s school financing problems indicated they are serious—but not as serious as petitioners for a special session had feared. The report, prepared by the State Board of Accounts, State Board of Tax Commissioners and State Budget Agency, left unaswered the question facing Branigin as to whether to call a special session to alleviate school financing problems. Branigin was out of his office today on what his staff termed ‘‘personal business” but was expected to comment Tuesday on the report. “Not all of the 86 school corporations referred to in the petitions appear to be in serious financial condition when available operating balances and increased property tax authority are considered,” the report said. Moore, both of the board of accounts, state tax commission financing expert Carleton L. Ileloise * * * DEAR HELOISE: In sewing, one often pricks a finger and a blood spot will stain the garment being worked on. When this happens, just place the material over a clean turkish tow-el or any absorbent material and rub the spot with an ice cube. Rotate inward from the outer edge of the spot. This will remove the stain. Blot the spot dry with another turkish tow’el. I have never found a ring to be left on my materials. I have made formats from very delicate and expensive fabrics, doing much handwork, and this hint has been a Godsend to me. Mrs. George Crocker * * * Ladies, I tried this and it works. But if the material is expensive, I do suggest that you first SPOT TEST the iee cube on an EXTRA piece of the material. We have no idea whether your particular material is eolorfast or whether it will welcome water or not. But it sure works beautifully on eolorfast materials! Heloise * * * DEAR HELOISE: I buy cold cream when it is on sale in big jars because it really is a great savings. But 1 11 let you in on how I preserve that saving.
