Press International. WASHINGTON (UPI) — USDA’s Consumer and Marketing Service reports that weekend shoppers can make their selections from ample stocks of meat and poultry and good supplies of some fresh vegetables and fruit in food stores and supermarkets. 1 Turkey continues as a meat in abundant supply. Bacon, ham, and pork steaks are in the abundant class in the pork department. Shoppers should also find ample displays of beef
from which to make their choices, especially steak and ground beef. North Pacific halibut steaks and fish fillets are fish buys to watch for, according to the U.S. Depart, ment of the Interior. Carrots and lettuce are the most abundant fresh vegetables, followed closely by cabbage and radishes. Fruits in the abundant class include oranges, and in some areas, grapefruit, apples, bananas, and strawberries. Shoppers will find eggs and milk as well as most dairy products in abundant supply.
