Above all—as in the reporting of the aftermath of the assassination of President Ken-nedy-video was a great and constructive force in showing how most Americans, black and white, reacted with maturity and dignity to the tragedy. Image Of Restraint Although one saw pictures of

some riots resulUng from the death, the overwhelming image transmitted was one of more restraint than many persons had expected. In this way, television not only did its reporting job, but contributed to at least the temporary stability in the nation.
