Try and Stop Me By BENNETT CERF /"YNE OF THE REASONS why Stan Musial was a superVJ star in baseball for years on end was that he had supreme confidence in himself. Before one game in the St. Louis park, a newcomer on the Cardinals roster told Musial happily, “Golly, I feel great today! I feel like I’m gonna bang out four hits in a row. Hey, Stan, do you ever feel that way?" "Yes,” admitted Musial. "EVERY day!” • • • A lovely young singer named Marni Nixon is beginning to acquire quite a reputation for herself on the night club circuit, and will soon be in the "Big Star, Big Salary’’ category. For years, however, you have been hearing the lilting voice of Mami Nixon without knowing it. She was the girl who really did the singing while Audrey Hepburn went through the motions in "My Fair Lady,” while Deborah Kerr pretended to be warbling in "The King and I," and when Natalie Wood was mouthing the lyrics in "West Side Story.” • * • A young wife boasted, "My husband is a genius at fixing things. Last week, for instance, he fixed the vacuum cleaner, the electric laundromat, and our new washing machine.” She added, "It’s a good thing he could. He was the only one using them.” O 1968, by Bennett Cerf. Dintrtbuted by King Features Syndicate.
Saves 4-year-old from hanging NEW ALBANY, Ind. (UPI>A 15-year.old newspaper carrier saved the life of a 4.year-old boy dangling in a rubber hose noose from a tree Wednesday. Michael Page told authorities he was delivering newspapers when he saw Jerry Williams hanging by the hose from a tree in the backyard of the lad’s home. Page said the child was unconscious. Page gave mouth-to-mouth resuscitation he learned during a first-aid course in New Albany High School and revived the little boy, who was rushed to Floyd County Memorial Hospital and reported in fair condition today.

Authorities said the boy had been standing on a tricycle with the hose wrapped around his neck and looped over a tree limb. The tricycle apparently slipped out from under his feet.
