Catholics may now join Free Masons
VATICAN CITY UPI - The Vatican has virtually scrapped an old church law excommunicating Catholics who join the Order of Free Masons, Vatican sources said Monday. The sources said Catholics are now free to join the Masons in the United States, Britain and most other countries of the world. But the European Grand Orient Lodge form of Masonry, established primarily in Italy and France, is still considered anti-Catholic or atheistic, they said. Free Masonry, which dates back to medieval times, de-
scribes itself as a non-political nonsectarian movement dedicated to the ideal of universal brotherhood. There are more than five million Masons in the world, most of them in Englishspeaking lands. The United States alone accounts for nearly four million members. Pope Clement XII condemned the order in 1733 as atheistic and anti-Catholic, and his action has been affirmed by seven other popes in 16 different pronouncements. The Eastern Orthodox church and some protestant bodies also have opposed Free Masonry.

where passengers genera 11 y spend the most time. These include two dining rooms, a nightclub, five lounges, bars and lounge areas, a theater, a pool and roomy openair deck spaces for sunning and funning. The decor throuhgout the ship, i including suites and cabins, is in the pleasing contemporary Scandinavian style. There are eight deluxe suites, each with private refrigerators and sitdown tub, and 206 cabins with at least two berths, private showers and toilets, and dressing areas. About 60 cabins have four berths, upper and lower, for families. All the cabins are located on
two decks, open from stem to stern, while the public rooms and areas are spread over four decks which can be reached by two elevators, except for the uppermost Sun Deck and the Crow’s Nest Bar high in the false stack. As most cruise vessels today, the Sunward operate as a oneclass ship. This means that all passengers, regardless of the price they pay for accommodations, are entitled to full use of all public facilities aboard the ship. The fare also includes three meals, mid-morning bouillon, mid-afternoon tea and late evening buffet daily, and the use of the ship as hotel during the stay in Nassau.
For the late-night owls, there is dancing in the Blue Moon Nightclub and entertainment in the Crow’s Nest Bar. And for those who can't wait to get to the casino in Nassau, or want to try to get even on the way home, there are slot machines just outside the main dining room. On three-day cruises < fares from $75 to $195), the Sunward leaves Miami on Friday afternoon. arrives in Nassau early Saturday, leaves late Sunday and arrives in Miami Monday morning. On four-day cruises !(from $90 to $225), it departs Miami Monday afternoon and returns early Thursday.
