In Georgia hospital

Mrs. Jervis Fulmer, formerly! of Greencastle, now living in Mt. Berry, Georgia, has been in the hospital at Rome, Georgia, because of a fractured pel- ! vis. She was injured when knocked down by a boxer dog.

According to Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, James Bell of Rt. 2, Roachdale received a lacerated chin and a possibly broken jaw as a result of the

mishap.

The accident happened, according to officers, when 16-year-old Charles M. McCarty, of Rt. 1, Bainbridge, lost control

of his 1962 Pontiac in loose gra- out!

applying the brakes.

Dear Folks: I’m pushing 50 real hard and have been sewing many years. I finally figured out something that has bothered me all this

time.

You know all the dust and lint that accumulates around the bobbin in a sewing machine and clogs it up? Well, the best way I’ve found to remove it is when you change the color of thread on your bobbin, just BLOW, BLOW, BLOW . . . while it’s

Letter of Thought Dear Heloise: We are raising our “second” family and I am learning more about motherhood now than when the older children were

home.

Several times a day our four-year-old will come in from play and announce, “It’s time for some lovin’. “Whatever I’m doing is set aside while we visit. He tells me what he’s been doing or sometimes we talk about “When I grow up, Mom. ...” It’s such a delightful time and since it’s at his suggestion, it is even MORE precious. Our small ones grow up and away from us so soon—especially after they start to school— and boys soon reach that stage where it’s “sissy” to be loved by adults. When the older children used to come to me for loving, I was usually too busy with my chores to stop. But as we grow older we realize that our children are more important that that waxed floor! Forgive my amateur attempt at child phychology.

• • • * Dear Heloise: As we especially like mashed potato salad and I was caught without anything but instant potatoes, I decided to give them a try. Just cook according to directions. The potatoes were done and cool by the time the eggs had finished cooking. Not even an expert could have told this instant potato salad, from “the kind mother used to

make.”

Dear Heloise:

My husband discovered an easier way to wash the car. He uses an insecticide sprayer, the kind that attaches to an ordinary garden hose and has a little hole In the top of the attachment. When insecticide is wanted, you put a finger on the hole and it has a tube which siphons the insecticide up to the hose and mixes with the water and sprays it. If you don’t want

boating. A micro-boat is a mini-j insecticide, remove your finger

and it sprays just clear water. My husband put a mild detergent mixed with some water

him soapy water to wash with and clear water from the attached hose to rinse with. All right there in one hand. The sprayer will hold enough soapy mix to do an average size car. Just be sure to dilute the detergent a bit so it won’t be too thick for the siphon tube. Ann De Land a • • • For years I’ve washed windows and screens this way. And who but you would have ever thought to use it on a car? You're great. Much thanks. Heloisg • • • a Dear Heloise: My neighbor made a cute toy for her dog by tying an old tennis ball in one of the strong mesh bags the onions come in. Her dog has a “ball” with his bouncing bag. Sue C. • * * * Dear Folks: Now don’t laugh at this. You might be surprised how much your kids love it. You know those packages of powdered drink mixes you buy which come in grape, orange, strawberry, etc.? Well, instead of plain old cinnamon toast for breakfast, try using some of this. It’s absolutely the greatest. Heloisg

boats go. It con’t go fast or far as most, but there's no doubt— it floats. What’s more, you can’t beat the upkeep or running costs. An ice man at the side of a $76,850 boat—full living for six —suggested I key the viewing to my financial condition. He said it was silly to go around in an inntertube, getting all wet. He said if I looked around I could find something that fits my pocketbook and keeps me dry. I looked and found a fourfoot, two-inch inflatable kayak for $20. It was for a child. I was taken also with a motorized surfboard. But my heart went pitty-pat the most when I found a ball you toss into the water. When it gets wet, it turns into a life preserver. That’s gven better than the

boats. Boat makers of America say the newest family thing is two identical micro-yachts of the s sailing variety. Mom and Jane race Dad and Pete. You can do the same thing with innertubes until you get the maxi-money for the miniboats—about $500 apiece.
