But I finally found the solution, so would like to share it with other wives You know, only convention makes us want to put curlers in our hair at night (and they’re horrible to sleep on) and do everything in one day. Why? So we can impress the neighborhood coffee-klatch and end up looking and being bedraggled for our husbands by the time they come home? Last month I tried throwingconvention out my window. Now, I get up just a little earlier every morning and roll my hair while having my first cup of coffee. I’m usually through by the time the children get up. My hair is up and

I simply say: “I read it in Heloise.” That clinches ANY argument! Myron Patterson • • • • Dear Heloise: Here’s an easy way to maka those bathroom shag rugs look new again. After washing the rug, take a clean wire dog brush (any stiff pet brush will do)—and brush it vigorously. This rids tne rug of matting and tangles, and leaves it silkly soft. This method is also excellent for rejuvenating the fuzzy seat covers and tank covers that ara so popular now. Carol Turner • • * * It’s best to do this just before it’s complete!}' dry. get the family off to school and work. Then I clean or do the ironing, etc. Here’s something else. I decided to stop my working day about time the small children take their naps. One thing about housework, It WILL wait until the next day. While the children nap, I get freshened up. When they wake up, I’m ready to dress them and go do my shopping or run errands. Or perhaps just do some little jobs until time for my husband to come home. Then we sit and talk awhile until time to fix dinner ( a form of communion most couples seem to forget as time goes on). My husband likes this schedule and willingly forgives me for not getting everything done in one day. He says he’s glad that old “harried housewife” left. While my schedule may not be appropriate for all wives, I thought it worth passing on. It might be food for thought so they can try to rearrange their daily work to make themselves and the whole family a little happier. So if you seem in a rut with your housework, why not try a change of schedule? “Got Smart” • • • • W r ell, bless you. You’re right . . there’s always tomorrow!
