Personal And Local News Veterans of Foreign Wars will meet Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Gen. Jesse M. Lee Post 1550 Home. Betty Pehan Smith underwent surgery this morning at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. She would like to hear from her friends. The room number is 461. The Perfect Bridge Hand was dealt at the Beta house late Monday night. It was an unbelievable bridge hand, as the odds were great. The bid naturally was seven spades. The group included Jeff Mont. Kirk Martin, Rick Martin and Tom Grossman. Home Nursing Classes are being sponsored throughout the county by the American Red Cross. The local unit hopes to start these classes within the next month. Classes will be taught by the county nurse. If interested please call the Red Cross office 653-4614 or 6539000. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Hildebrand have gone to Monroe, Wis., where Mrs. Hildebrand will have surgery this week, for an injury suffered from a fall. They may be addressed at 2121 20th Ave.. Monroe, Wis., care of Mrs. Robert D. Crandall, who is their daughter. They plan to be gone for at least two months.

Meeting held by Fillmore Lion$ The Fillmore Lions Club held its annual Charter Night Banquet Friday evening at the Apple Grove Restaurant in Crawfordsville. Charter members who are still active and were present are Sanford Siddons, Cecil Phillips, Ennis Masten, Harold Pruitt, C. N. Phillips, Amos Hunter, Vernie Zeiner, George Irwin, and Bill Craig. Special guests of the club were the wives of all the club members, district governor and Mrs. Ray Atteberry of Galveston, Cabinet Secretary Mr. and Mrs. William Duthcess, and zone chairman Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCullough of Greencastle. George S. Pyke is president of the Fillmore club and Norman Sutherlin is secretary.

Announce Engagement Mr. and Mrs. James Walters, Coatesville, today announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Wanda Lou Walters, and Michael Duane Jones. The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Jones of Greeneastle. Miss Walters is a 1967 graduate of Cascade High School and has attended Vincennes University. No date has been set for the wedding.

The Coatesville Extension Club met January 9th in the Civil Building for their first meeting in the new year. Mrs. Pearl Bowen, president, led the pledge to the flag. The new program books were given out and reviewed by the vice president, Gayle Robinson. The lesson leaders were chosen for the year. Mrs. Callie Cassady gave devotions. Roll call was answered with what the members received for Christmas. Mrs. Lorena Lasley read the history of the song of the month. Mrs. Geneva Merod was pianist for the group sing-

Mrs. Lasley gave the safety lesson on “Falls and Ways to prevent them. More people are injured in falls in the home than anywhere else. She advised hand rails on stairway and bath tubs. Eleven members and one guest, Mrs. Merle Trump, enjoyed refreshments of salad, crackers and coffee, served by the hostess, Mrs. Bowen and Mrs. Mozella Alice.
