Today's Good Turn APPLE-CHERRY CHRISTMAS LOAF

This holiday loaf is studded with cheery little cherries, filled Vith chopped nuts, given apple fruitiness with tangy canned apple ■auce—and also kept fresh ami moist by same. Apple-Cherry Christmas Loaf ^ cup butter or margarine 2 teaspoons baking powder l 1 ,: cups sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 4 eggs 1 teaspoon salt 2 cups canned appie sauce 2 tablespoons grated lemon rind cup milk cups chopped nuts 4 cups sifted all-purpose cup maraschino cherries, flour chopped ©ream together butter or margarine and sugar; add eggs, one at ft time, beating after each. Stir in apple sauce and milk. Sift (together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to Creamed mixture and mix well. Add grated lemon rind, nuts and •rained maraschino cherries. Pour into 2 greased loaf pans 9” X ’ x 3 Bake in moderate oven 350' > F. for one hour. Kcmovo from pans; cool on wire rack before slicing. Makes 2 loaves.
