SUPPLEMENT TO THE DAILY BANNER

Blanket is a game warm-up

The whole family will get a charge out of these new small electric housewares

MINI-HEATER CAN PLEASE MANY . . . Use it to warm Baby’s room on cold mornings, to take the chill off Dad’s work-shop, to warm up Big Sister's office cubicle ... to lend cheer in any drafty corner. A true portable, it weighs but 6 lbs., measures just over 12 in. long yet produces plenty of heat.

If sweaters, gloves, games and jewelry begin to pall as gift ideas for Christmas this year, consideration might be given to the myriad small electric housewares that offer fresh inspiration for everyone on the gift Ust. Housf* wares manufacturers »re coming out with such exciting new products as solid ■fate blenders, dual action toothbrushes and automatic hair curlers that do the job in five to fifteen minutes. A special bonus is the fact that a single electric housewares gift can be enjoyed by most members of the family. As an example of this versatility of use and appeal, General Electric home economists offer this sample list of electric gift suggestions for various members of the family. Mother: Warming Tray, Coffee Maker, Toothbrush. Father: Cordless Slicing Knife, Massager, Solid State Blender, Cigarette Lighter, Miniheater. Sister: Decorative Wall Clock, Manicure Set, Hair Dryer, Hair Curler. Brother: Clothes Brush, Shoe Polisher, Rechargeable Flashlight, Terrestial Time Clock. Baby: Mini Heater, Baby Dish, Smokey Bear Clock. Career Girl: Mini Heater, Hair Curler. Admittedly, a baby dish will he used by baby alone, but an

automatic rechargeable toothbrush with six personal brushes can be used by the whole family. And certainly, coffee lovers can all enjoy a good brew made in an automatic coffee maker. A mini heater warms baby’s room but it takes the chill off

Dad’s workshop, too. And the office of that special career gal. Definitely of use to the whole family are the shoe polisher, clothes brush and manicure set to keep them well groomed during the Christmas season and throughout the year.

Newest status symbol for the big game season is the Sportster, a jaunty new screen printed stadium robe that illustrates 16 popular sports with action poses against a beige- background. Sportster’s a new breed of “skinny" Fiberwovon blanket that's lightweight to carry and just as warm as a conventional fat blanket twice its weight. And it's big enough to keep two snugly covered. Even if mustard and drinks spill, there's no need to worry. Fiberwoven “skinny" blankets come out of

Shop wisely Shop as wisely for your Christmas tree as you do for that very special gift. In order to get a lovely tree that will stay that way there are several considerations. First, check the shap of the tree, making sure that it is uniform and full-branched. Most important — check the tree for freshness. Gently shake a few of the branches. If needles fall off, the tree is “too old.” Be sure to measure the height you want for the tree in your home, and then take that yardstick with you when you buy. A tree in an open-air lot looks smaller than it actually is. It’s a waste of money buying a tree that is too tall; it also means it will have to be cut down.

the washer looking like new and never shrink, “pill” or shed. The blanket's binding is sturdy whip stitching, designed to withstand the hazards of uninhibited grandstand cheering, unscathed. And, note to sportsmen, this “skinny" blanket will keep you warm in a duck blind, too. About six dollars.

Toy camera Picture Story Camera is a make-believe camera for preschoolers styled after a real 35 mm. candid camera. Proportioned and detailed to follow the lines of a real miniature camera, it is colorfully reproduced in a bright yellow, red and white, with a yellow plastic carrying handle. By pushing the shutter release button on top of the camera, a triple action is produced that at the same time turns the top-mounted simulated flash cube, changes the full color scene in the viewer, and advances the number of the film “exposure." Eight pictures in all tell of a visit to a farm. The second viewer, a see-through one, has a wheel which changes the colors of the field of vision. It’s a take-along toy for youngsters aged 3 to 6 that suggests imaginative play situations. Made of tough plastic and wood, it measures 5 V* ” wide, 4” high, by 2%” deep. About $2.29.
