LARGE JACKPOTS
—Heloise our kitchen chairbacks. They are easily washed, require no ironing, and keep the wooden backs of the chairs from being scratched by zippers and buttons. Also they lend a fresh and decorative appearance to the eating area. Mrs. Callahan • • • • Dear Heloise: I’ve found a wonderful space stretcher for closets. I use a child’* closet rod which has a wire on each end that extends up to the large rod for hanging. And It’s low enough for a child to use. This small rod allows enough room on one side of the closet for ladies dresses and blouses to be hung from the higher rod. Folded slacks, skirts, and shorter garments are hung on the small lower rod and on the regular rod just above it. The space saving Is being able to hang two rows of short garments where only one row hung before. Betty • o o • Dear Heloise: I use to be furious when my husband’s aerosol shaving can made ugly rust stains on our white bathroom counter. Finally I found that the container’s plastic cap fits snugly on the bottom of the can. Now the counter remains clean all the time. Barbara Schultz • * o • Dear Heloise: To cover my basement windows, I placed paper doilies flat against each window, dabbing a little paste on the four comers. As a result, my windows have the appearance of starched lace curtains. So pretty, and so economical,
too.
Marie Berardino • * * * Dear Heloise: Don't despair when the weather is humid, and your postage stamps become sticky.' Just pat the glued side with a puff of powder. They will stay dry for a month or longer. ! And when you moisten a stamp, it’s sticky again! Mildred Gearheart • * • * Dear Heloise: When you turn down a skirt waistband to make the skirt shorter, turn the belt inside towards your body instead of turning it over on the outside. The result is much neater. No puckers or bulges show. Mrs. Donald Webster
