/■\NE OF THE most unusual name changes on record, V/ opines Cleveland Amory, was engineered by the renowned author-naturalist, Ernest Thompson Seton. He was born Ernest Seton Thompson, but when, on his twenty-first birthday his crusty father presented him with an Itemized statement listing every miniscule expense involved in raising him, he vowed, “I’ll pay back every penny of it — and then Til change my name.” And this is precisely what he did! * • * On one of his TV shows Steve Allen was earnestly extolling the virtues of a non-breakable chair made of processed glass. To demonstrate its indestractibility, he whacked the chair with a hammer. The chair promptly cracked In two. The audience howled with joy, but Allen, unabashed, got the last laugh with a casual, “Well, anyhow, this HAMMER is made of that glass'.’* • • »
