Coatesville day •veiling was spent with a pitch-in supper at the Club House where David Brown and family reside and a splendid meal and enjoyable conversation was appreciated by all. Jack showed the folks slides of the Mission Inn Hotel where his office is located at Riverside, California. Reverend Nichols’ wife. Ruth ■and two children could not leave home for this was a business trip and school claimed daughter. Susan. 15 years of age and David, a boy of twelve

years. Jack spent the night with the Herbert Brown family and was taken to the airport by Dick Allee Wednesday morning. Church and other folks were all thankful for this good man’s visit. They were sorry his family could not ac-

company him.

Carpentering and excavating work is underway at the local elevator to make more room for increasing business. The first beans were hauled to the elevator September 13 and since then between five and six thousand bushels have been received. As for quality,

not too good. The word is that beans threshed later will be a better grade. They have been averaging about 30 bushels per

acre.

Wednesday morning thirtyfive ladies, most of them members of the Amo and Coatesville Home Extension Club and a few friends boarded a chartered bus and drove to Indianapolis for a day of visiting at some selected and interesting places, and general sight-seeing and I shopping. One of the first places to be visited was the State Board of Health where the visitors were told of the

many activities of this busy center. The ladies were driven then to the Governor's Mansion in north Indianapolis where they pronounced Mrs. Branigin as an ideal hostess. Noon found the club taking lunch in the State House Cafetria. Other scenes of visiting were Appellate Court, Supreme Court, the House and Senate Chambers and Governor Branigin's office. The club's visiting and sightseeing day has been a yearly affair. Two Owen County men were callers Wednesday afternoon on Maurice (Tubby t Wingler:

James Baugh from near Vandalia and Carl Weilhamer of Cuba. Both men were interested in seeing Mr. Wingler’s horses. The Wells and Son trucks and their tree trimmers were in town Friday. They were working for the light company clearing all limbs from contact with wires. There was an all afternoon job on two tall maples on the property of Mr. Woodson Darnall and Charles Coffey. One of the trucks had a power hoist that when put in a vertical position would allow a man to stand in the cage and cut limbs off at a

: height h of 50 feet from the ground. This cage could be ; swung wherever the trimmer 1 desired to work. Charlton High of Plainfield came to Cascade Friday evening and forthwith took a trouncing. This*was the Cadet's fourth start and the team was hungry for a victory somewhere along the schedule before the tough games appear. In the first four minutes of Friday's I game the home team had scored. Charlton managed to cross the end stripe twice and the i game ended with Cascade 26. Charlton 13.

New Market will invade the Cadet field Friday, September 29. The Cadets are looking for victory number two. Sunday was Rally Day at the local Methodist Chui-ch and the church was well filled. It was good to see the faces of so many that had not attended in several months. Sunday night was Family Night and a goodly number of folks were present to listen to a i special program that had been arranged. There will be choir practice the coning week for Miss Penny Wingler has consented to act

as leader. This young lady is well fitted for leadership as sht has had high school and church experience with organ and piano, has been a member of a church choir for a number of years and has studied music for some two years at Indiana State. Next Sunday, World Wid* Communion Service will be observed at both the Coatesville and Amo churches. On October 8 at 7:30 the Fall Quarterly Conference will ht held in the Amo Church.
