In loving memory of Walter A. Wamsley, who passed away, September 6, 1965. Two years have passed since that sad day, When one we loved was called away. No one hears the door that opens, When they pass beyond our call Soft as loosened leaves of roses, One by one our loved ones fall. From our chain these links have fallen, In our land their stars have set, I But enshrined on memory’s tablet. Their true worth we’ll never forget. Mrs. Lou Eggers, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Dear Heloise: We can always buy brush holders, but the “plumber’s friend” (which I also like to keep in my bathroom) has no place to hide. I finally decided to do something about it. So I painted the handle white, cut off the top of a gallon bleach jug and the plumber’s friend fitted right in. Then I cut a giant-size jug off halfway and made an inch hole in the bottom. By putting this upside down over the handle, the plumber’s friend had a
cover.
It looks like a little oldfashioned butter churn — very neat and clean in our bathroom. Bernice Jordan * • * * Now, Bernice, aren’t you a tricky one? I bow to you on both knees. Heloise * * * * Dear Heloise: Did you know that brushing the bottom crust of a pie with a slightly beaten egg white will prevent juice from soaking into it ? The crust will be nice and crisp, not soggy. Blondie * * • * Letter of Laughter Dear Heloise: W’ashing a "skunked” dog with tomato juice to remove skunk ordor works! But have you ever tried to wash the tomato juice off the
dog?
Every time he shakes his coat to get the wet off, the walls, the room and you are very nicely tomatoed, too. This is the voice of experience speaking. Wow! what a
mess. Dolly
* • • • Dear Heloise: I moved recently and my bathroom drapes were a little too narrow for the windows. I removed the stitching from the pleats and instead of three folds in each pleat, I made two small ones. This widened them just enough to cover the window,
and no one noticed the difference. I was so pleased with th« results, but best of all, it saved me the expense of having ti buy new drapes. Ruth Roberta * * * * Ruth, hon, you really had jour “thinker” working on thia one. Thanks for sharing. Heloise • a * • Dear Heloise: (Continued on Page S)
