Heloise
I leave mine on all the .time and the heating element does not affect it at all. Pegg Pratt * * * * Dear Heloise: When knitting, try using regular bobby pins as markers. These are always available ‘and easy to take off your knitted piece without removing the 'heedles or tearing the yarn. Hook the bobby pin through the stitch and let it dangle. It ,, won't come off until you take , it off. M. G. * * * * ■ Dear Heloise: Being an indulgent grandmother, I let my granddaughters use my hand lotion each time they wash their hands. I’ve had to be ingenious to ; keep ahead of them, so I put "Tiand lotion in empty roll-on deordorant bottles.
The dolls can roll it on with j no spills, and the lotion lasts
1 longer.

NEWS FISHY LONDON UPI—Editors long have maintained dignified silence on the matter, but fish and chip shop owners finally complained — wrapping their wares in newspapers is bad for
their image.
“Quite a lot of people don’t like fish and chips wrapped in newspapers,” said the National | Federation of Fish Fryers today. “But they would not mind plain wrapping paper.” At least one shop owner disagreed. “My customers won’t carry fish and chips in anything but newspapers,” said shopkeeper George Torn "Some think that’s the only thing news- ( papers are good for.”

Pest of the Week
Horticultural tip
Midsummer Invaders: The strawberry root weevil often becomes a pest in houses during the midsummer months. The weevils are black snout bettles about 1*4” long. The grubs feed upon the roots of strawberries, small fruits, evergreens, nursery stock, and other plants. The weevils that result from these grubs cannot fly but crawl about in large numbers and often enter homes in search of a place to hibernate. They cause no damage indoors other than
EASY PAYMENT REDDITCH, England UPI — Mrs. Mary Edwards owes the Redditch Town Council 368 pounds ($1,0301, but payment shouldn’t be a problem. She has 7,360 years to pay the bill. Mrs. Edwards was told to pay the council, which spent the money building a wall behind her home, at the rate of one shilling (14 cents) a year. “We don’t like to press elderly citizens on money matters,” said a council spokesman. “We consider our form of billing a fair one.”
being annoying. Several other weevils with similar habits may also enter homes. These include Asiatic oak weevil, a Japanese weevil, and the black vine weevil. Control: Weevils can be kept out of homes by spraying foundation walls and adjacent soil around buildings so as to form a barrier strip about 10 feet wide over which the insects cannot crawl. For this purpose, use chlordane, dieldrin, or lindane. Use enough spray to wet thoroughly the areas treated. Weevils indoors can be picked up and destroyed with a vacuum sweeper attachment.
