GOP delegates 26 for Indiana INDIANAPOLIS UPI — The Indiana Republican organization will have to be content with 26 delegates to the GOP national convention next summer The Republican National Committee rejected a Hoosier appeal for reinstatement of its 1964 convention delegate strength of 32, ruling that Indiana's delegation would be smaller next year because the state has a Democratic governor and U.S. senators. The Indiana appeal was based on the state’s showing in the 1966 "off year” election when the party candidates would all state offices at stake and a majority of the congressional seats. But the national organization ruled its previous decision would stand—two delegates for each of the 11 congressional districts plus four at-large delegates.

Bible Thought For Today

For the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart—I Samuel 16:7. Regardless of what people think about us, good or bad,let us remember that we stand before God for what we really are.

New compound is developed CHICAGO UPI — A team of Indiana University scientists today told the American Chemical Society here they have deserotonin, the so-called "brain veloped a compound similar to hormone.” Serotonin Is so powerful that one part in a million exhibits an effect in the brain. A certain amount Is necessary for normal brain function but too much can bring hallucinations and too little can cause depression. Dr. E. E. Campaigne, a chemistry professor at the university, reported that a similar compound, called a sulfur analog, mimicked the activity of serotonian in preliminary studies on rats and rabbits. He said the sulfur analog could be a "useful tool” for studying the different functions of serotonin. Participating in the studies with Campaigne were Dr. T.R. Bosin, post-doctoral fellow at the university, and Dr. E. S. Neiss, former post-doctoral fellow and now a reasearch chemist at the New Jersey NeuroPsychiatric Institute, Princeton, N. J.

Dear Heloise: 1 make teacup coasters out of used paper placemats. With the careful diner, decorated paper placemats are scarcely soiled after one meal, yet really cannot be used on the table again. I use a mayonnaise jar lid as a pattern guide and cut elegant and absorbent coasters to put under each cup. No more dripping tea or coffee cups when . you lift them from the saucer j. . . the coasters catch it all. And don’t throw the placemats out if you don't drink tea or coffee—just use them under your pet’s food dish. Lee George

Loan up to Attorney General INDIANAPOLIS UPI — A proposed loan of $1 million for the Industrial Development Fund received only conditional approval from the State Finance Board Monday. Lt. Gov. Robert L. Rock had sought the loan from the state’s general fund, but the board endorsed the loan from the state construction fund, subject to approval of constitutionality by . Atty. Gen. John J. Dillon. The construction fund, now totaling $15.8 million, is suppos- ! ed to finance new buildings at state universities and institutions. Hence, there Is likelihood J of opposition to the proposed loan. In the event that the loan is i sanctioned, the board approved ! the following loans to cities and towns for development of indus- ; tries. $100,000 each to New Albany, Bedford, Andrews, Paoli, Brazil, Michigan City, Mishawaka, 1 Elkhart and Fayette County. Other tentative allowances were Greencastle $97,860; Hartford City $60,000; Parker, $20,000: Ferdinand, $13,000 and | North Webster, $2,000.

awards dinner. Steward L. Udall, through this this action, has once again revealed his Socialist colors. The secretary of interior, who often plumps for public power projects and who tried, unsuccessfully, to prevent Duke Power Company from constructing a private power complex in South Carolina two years ago, has given his vast influence and prestige in honor of a renowned radical. Through this official action, obviously consented to by the present administration, Sec. Udall reveals the relentless drive towards socialism by our 1 policy makers. I would raise the qusetion as to where this Socialistic trend will lead us; to national socialism, which is best illustrated by Nazism; or international socialism, which is Communism ? We had better give due consideration to the crisis, which faces us as freedom loving people, of which this is a part. What will we tell our children and grandchildren when they ask questions concerning our loss of liberty? What will we tell the returning servicemen who have come face to face wtih the brutal facts of the evils of socialism? What can we do to denounce this dishonerable occasion? We should deluge the office of Mayor Tucker and Congressman Myers with telephone calls, telegrams and letters requesting that this be stopped. Also, all persons trading with any merchants in the Terre Haute area should make them aware of our displeasure, asking them to stop this dedication. For Christ and America, James O. Jester R. R. 2, Coatesvill*

Dear Heloise: How do you get the awful odor of bleach off your hands, besides wearing rubber gloves while using it? June Viet Dear June: To remove the "slick” from your hands after using household bleach, first rinse them. Then grab that vinegar bottle and go "blub” (that’s one good gurgle) over your hands, rub them together and rinse again. That’s all that there is to

it, kiddo. Heloise

Dear Heloise:

As I was making a meatloaf this morning. I wondered if anyone had ever thought of this: I I always wear a pair of rubber gloves to mix things like meatloaf, dressing, etc. that re-

quire hand mixing.

Dear Heloise:

I had trouble blocking my I crocheted doilies to a perfect circle until I thought of using my husband's round dart board. It is made of cork and is very

easy to stick pins into. It is much more pleasant, esI first cover it with plastic pecially if the meat is cold. And

to protect my doily from any soil in the cork. Then I just

pin away.

Works great!
