Vice President Humphrey and members of Bishop and Mrs. Richard C. Raines family get together for a short visit following Mr. Humphrey's address in Gobin Memorial Church honoring the Bishop.
Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey Is shown delivering a tribute to his old friend, Indiana Methodist Bishop Richard C. Raines in Gobin Memorial Church Friday morning.. Bishop Raines will retire next July after serving as bishop since 1948. Bishop Raines was Mr. Humphrey's pastor in Minneapolis from 1930*48 while the Vice President was mayor of that city. Dr. William E. Kerstetter, president of DePauw, is shown listening with interest to Mr. Humphrey's eulogy.
Vice President Humphrey, accompanied by Secret Service agents, greets and shakes hands with many of the crowd assembled on Simpson Street following his talk in Gobin Memorial Church. Hundreds of local and Putnam County citizens gathered early Friday morning to get a glimpse of the Vice President.
