most outstanding junior swim enthusiasts. The local team will include David Hedrick, Janet Hardwick, Shirley Hardwick, Missy See, Mike Jarvis, Kevin Jarvis, John Null, Terry Saunders, Marc Huckleberry, Earlene Larmore, Phil Archer, Rick Harlan, and David Conrad. The team will be chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. Hedrick, Mr. and Mrs. Null, and 1 a member of the local Jaycee i Chapter. A team was sponsored by the Jaycee group last year and two of the entries placed in the standings. Nancy Fletcher placed 5th in the girls 100-yard breaststroke and Jennifer Walton placed fifth in the girls’ 25yard breaststroke.

A representative of the Jaycees said that without the splendid cooperation of many merchants and organizations the swim meet could not have been as successful as it was. The state meet will be held at Tuhey Park Pool near downtown Muncie and will begin at 9:00 a.m. EST. Local spectators are encouraged to attend. Free programs and parking are made available to everyone attending.

The local meet was held Sunday in Robe-Ann Park Swimming Pool. Events held were the j j frestyle, backstroke, breast- ! stroke and butterfly. Each event was broken up into five age groups: 8 years and under, 9 and 10 years, 11 and 12 years, 13 and 14 years, and 15 to 17 I years. All first place winners w r ere extended the opportunity j to compete in the statewide meet.

PHILADELPHIA UPI — The Philadelphia Phillies have recalled lefthander Mike Everett from Bakersfield of the California League to replace righthander Rick Wise, who left for two weeks of Army reserve training. Infielder Terry Harmon was returned to Portsmouth of the California League Tuesday to make room for outfielder Johnny Briggs, who has returned from two weeks in the Army.

LOUIS UPI —The St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League have signed i goalie Glenn Hall, their top draft pick from the Chicago; Black Hawks in the expansion: draft. “I hope to have a few more good years left,” said the 36- ; year-old Hall Tuesday. He allowed an average of 2.38 goals in 32 games last season.

CHICAGO UPI — Major league baseball owners sit down today for a possible three-day meeting intended for “discussion.” and could find instead a hot potato, spelled “M-O-N-E-Y,” thrown at them by the players. Commissioner William Eckert called the meeting to enable the owners to bring up for discussion whatever subjects they believed could help baseball. The players, through representative Marvin Miller, have j placed a seven-page document on the table requesting consideration of such varied points as representation in negotiation of television fees and added meal money.” The player requests will be

Among them were suggestions for reduction of the 162-game schedule, a provision that no player may get a salary cut of more than 10 per cent in a year, higher spring training allowances, higher moving expenses, binding rules restricting scheduling doubleheaders after night games or night games on getaway days, and arbitration of player-management disputes.

On Monday night, Boyer singled in the tying run in the ninth and Colavito hit a tworun homer to win it in the 10th. They were at it aagin Tuesday night. After the Indians rallied for two runs in the eighth off Hoyt Wilhelm to tie the game. Boyer led off the ninth with a double off Bob Allen. George Culver came on and intentionally walked Smokey Burgess before being tagged for Colavito’s hit which drove in the tiebreaking run. The White Sox then added five more runs with Ron Hansen’s bases -loaded double the key blow.

Indians closing on leaders

INDIANAPOLIS UPI — The Indianapolis Indians were just 2% games back of first-place San Diego today in the Pacific Coast League eastern division after their second victory in a row over the Padres. The second-place Indians blanked the division leaders 6-0 Tuesday night behind the pitching of Joe Overton and the bat ting of Cotton Nash. Overton held the Padres to four scattered hits and struck out six while Nash hit his eighth home run in as many nights, boosting his season total to 19.

Joseph E. Borden, a pitcher for both Philadelphia and Boston, hurled the first two no-hit games ever recorded in major league history, the first in 1875 and the second a year later.
