Israel as the aggressor to the Mid-east opened up the first crack in Soviet attempts to present a united Communist front toward the Arab-Israeli conflict. Other cracks are appearing as the discussion trickles down through government and party ranks. Belgrade reports suggest that President Josef Bros Tito Is running into opposition from high government and party levels to his all-out support of the Arabs. Polish party leader Wladyslaw Gomulka’s warning to Polish Jews that “we do not wish a fifth column to be created in our country” has been interpreted as a sign of unrest within the Polish Communist party which numbers

Complain About Costs Other indications came from the recent Communist summit meeting in Budapest where East European nations that already have complained against the high cost o f maintaining Cuba’s Fidel Castro expressed further dissatisfaction when presented with their share of the bill for maintaining the United Arab Republic’s Gamal Abdel Nasser. The Belgrade reports say Yugoslav dissatisfaction springs from two sources. Well-informed Yugoslavs say there is a considerable body of opinion that has never been enthusiastic about Tito’s close ties with Egypt at the expense of Israel. By RICK DU BROW HOLLYWOOD UPI—In television, familiarity breeds new series. The fall network schedule offers illustrations. The new ABC-TV aeries “Cowboy in Africa” in an offspring of the movie “Africa— Texas Style,” a current release. “Peyton Place,” of course, came from the book and movie of the same name. “Family Affair’’ is just a switch on the old video program “Bachelor Father." The new ABC-TV entry "Garrison’s Gorillas” bears a striking similarity In format to the current motion picture “The Dirty Dozen,” with both of them concerning convicts on wartime assignment. One ABC-TV officl al In Hollywood says: “We don’t consider it tactful to mention ‘The Dirty Dozen’ around here.” “The Invaders," meanwhile, is merely a science-fiction twist on the television series “The Fugitive” “N.Y.P.D.” New York PoUce Department follows on the heels of the successful revival of “Dragnet,” which centers around the Los Angeles PoUce Department. “Daktari” stemmed from the movie “Clarence the CrossEyed Lion.” The new comedy series, “He and She” and “Good Morning, World,” are reported aiming to fill the gap left by the departure of the Dick Van Dyke show. “Green Acres” is “The Beverly Hillbillies” in reverse—with ctiy people moving to a rural area. “Run For Your Life” is yet another twist on “The Fugitive.” “Batman” was weU known for years to all learned comic strip students. “Good Company,” in which attorney F. Lee Bailey will talk with celebrities and world figures at their homes, is frankly an updatel version of the late Edward R. Murrow’s “Person to Person.” "Cinuneron Strip” is quite obviously CBS-TV’s attempt to make it big with a 90-minute western the way that NBC-TV

has with “The Virginian.” “Hondo” is a western taken from the movie of the same name. “Tarzan” had an ample history to draw on. “Accidental Family,” a new comedy, also is in the mold of “Bachelor Father” and, more recently, “Family Affair.” The list could go on and on. In a nutshell, one appeal of many of these derivations, so far as television is concerned, is their “pre-sold” potential. It is

Demand Explanation “It was concluded,” the agency said, “that the people demand a detailed explaination of the attitudes of the Yugoslav government and the leadership of the league p a r t y of Communists toward the latest events in the world.” The Polish Communist party suffers from a three-party split among conservatives, revisionists and the partisans. The partisans are nationalistis and Anti-Semitic, and there i 0 speculation that the Gomulka speech was an attempt to offset a new partisan power bid. Gomulka has a Jewish wife. The Romanians continue their independent course. During a two - day foreign policy review before the National Assembly, Premier Ion Gheorghe Maurer not only defended Romania’s right to dissagree but also said frankly that Romania hoped for better relations with the United j States.
