The WSCS of Cloverdale Methodist Church met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Zella Hedrick with Mrs. Esther Jones assisting. The meeting was called to order by the presdent, Mrs. Betty Cummings With prayer. Devotions were given by Mrs. Hallie Sipple and the program, Rediscovery of Man’s Power, by Betty Cummings. Nineteen members were present The meeting was closed with a prayer by Mrs. Lillie Bastain, refreshments were cookies, coffee, and tea, served by the hostess. Mrs. Hallie Sipple held the Lucky Napkin. The August meeting will be with Mrs. Tressie Turner and Mrs. Essie Morrison at the Community Building. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jerrell and Virginia Pollard were visitors Sunday afternoon with Waunetta Fultz. Mrs. Maybird Beaman Roll of Fontana, California, formerly of Cloverdale, called on Mrs. Hallie Sipple Thursday. Diana and Ginger Gray of Greencastle visited their grandmother, Mrs. LaRue Gray a few days last week. The Fellowship Birthday Party at the Community Building on Saturday, July 15, sponsored by the WSCS of the Methodist Church was in charge of Mrs. Betty Cummings and Mrs. Lillie Bastain. The room was beautifully decorated and each table represented each month of the year. Everyone was seated at the table that represented the month they were bom and were entertained with a musical and reading program. Mrs. Mae Everette, a friend of the Reo Bastains gave some readings. She is 85 years old. Mrs. Starnes and Mrs. Irene Whaley of Bloomington attended the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hudson and family of South Bend attended the meeting. Refreshments were served by the ladies. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Furr and family visited their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Mack Furr of Acton, on Sunday. Johnny Arnold, Paul and Carol Hankins and Marsha Sutherlin flew to Dayton, Ohio, Sunday to an air show and museum. Mr. and Mrs. Verlie Rice, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rice and daughters are home from a week of fishing in Orr, Minnesota. Mrs. Mary Logan arrived home Thursday afternoon from a trip with Mrs. Hickman of Greencastle to Iowa City, Iowa to visit Mr. and Mrs. Robert Logan. Jennifer and Jeff Logan had been visiting their grandparents. They returned to Iowa City with diem. Mrs. Mary Hurst, Mrs. Eliza Query, Mrs. Mary Bailey, Mrs. Nelle Allen and Mks. Belle Lesley, went to West Tenth Street Veterans Hospital on Friday and worked. They called on Robert Blue and reported him as improving. Cecil Quinlan of Stilesville visited his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lem Quinlan Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Sharp and family of South Bend were dinner guests Friday of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Woodal and Mrs. Myrtle Sadler. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Dunagan of Martinsville called on Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Michael and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Stockwell Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Furr entertained at dinner Saturday evening. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Glee Trusdel. Mass Eloise Hamblem of Indianapolis visited her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Glendon Herbert a few days the past

week.

Mr. and Mrs. Forest Williams visited Bob Blue at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis Saturday afternoon. Miss Alice May Craggs was home from Kokomo over the weekend. Miss Mamie Cline, Mrs. Lucy Cline, Mrs. Vesta Whitaker, and Mrs. Eliza Query attended Church Sunday evening at the New Providence Church. Those who visited Mrs. Minnie Sprinkle, Jim and Mermon Saturday were Mrs. Betty Howe and son Steve of Branchville, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hubert and son Denny of Tell City and Miss Connie Clark of Spencer. Mrs. Mary Cook of New Richmond has been a house guest of Mrs. LaRue Gray Monday and Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Miller and daughters of Pompano Beach, Florida, are here visiting Mr. and Mrs. Cedric Ray and Rhoddy and Mr. and Mrs. Josh McCullough and family. Steve White celebrated his tenth birthday with his grandfather, Virgil Church. Others at

the party were Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Church of Coatesville and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne White. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Herod of Coatesville were dinner guests of Mrs. Esther Fry Sunday. Rusty and Robert Perry of Greencastle were Sunday afternoon callers of Mrs. Herschel Knoll. The boys are pupils in Ridpath School where Mrs. Knoll teaches. Mrs. Lewis Neier and Mrs. Herschel Knoll accompanied Mrs. Grace Shake to Greensburg on Monday. Mrs. Shake will be the guest of her son, Howard G. Shake and his family for several days. The Shakes’ daughter, Shirley, a Greensburg High School pupil, is spending the week at Ball State University where she is attending a music clinic. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Neier and Ervin attended the Hunsicker Reunion in Brazil Sunday. Mrs. Eva Craggs is visiting her sister, Mrs. Chloe Hazelrigg of Rushville. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Clevenger attended the Tressler Reunion at McCormick’s Creek State Park Sunday. Mr. and Mirs. Bob Nees and Dave, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ray, Mr. and Mrs. Josh McCullough and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Nees, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Schadwick and Tammy, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Miller and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Cedric Ray and Rhoddy visited over the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ray and family at Camp Asherwood near Wabash, Indiana. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Stutsman of New Carlisle and Air. and Mrs. George Scott and Paul spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Flake.

Mr. and Mrs. Cheater Paris of Trafalgar visited Tuesday with Airs. Paris* brother and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Flake. Mrs. Eva Craggs and Mm. Frances Flake were in Terre Haute Saturday. They had lunch at Hunt’s Restaurant. Martha Alar tin of near Monrovia visited Mr. and Mbs. Herman Flake Thursday. Air. and Airs. Tom Sandy Sr. and Airs. Josephine Weaver visited Private Roy Sandy at Fort Campbell, Kentucky over the weekend. Roy accompanied them to Kentucky Lake on a weekend pass. He will finish basic training July 38 and be home on furlough until August 11, when he will report to Fort Custis, Virginia, for eleven weeks schooling as an airplane mechanic. Mrs. Josephine Weaver of Toledo, Ohio, has been visting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sandy, Sr. Airs. Weaver is an aunt of Airs. Sandy. William Powell, formerly of Cloverdale, now of Poland is in the St. Anthony Hospital in Terre Haute. His room number is 203. He would be happy to hear from his friends. Air. and Mrs. Charlie Hupp and family of Shoals, and AO*, and Mrs. Roger Williams and family of Advance visited with Mr. and Airs. Elbert Williams at their farm near Patricksburg Sunday. Grandson Leslie is spending the week with them. Mr. and Airs. Tom Sandy, Sr., recently returned home from a 6,200 mile vacation trip through Mexico and California. While in Stockton, California, they visited in the home of Lowell Snyder.
