Water Consumers - NOTICE - The demand for water in our system has been much greater than normal during the dry weather. The system is designed to meet any anticipated demand, however, due to abnormal usage, a large high service booster pump that is not normally used has to be utilized to maintain proper supply and pressure. The increased pressures and velocity in the mains causes rust to be dislodged in the mains causing this rusty water condition. We suggest that you take the following steps to improve your service. 1. Do not attempt to wash clothes when you notice this condition. 2. Do not use any more water than necessary for personal or household needs. However, lawn sprinkling may improve your supply. 3. After the cold water has cleared, the next morning BEFORE you use any water, open the drain cock at the bottom of your water heater and drain off a small amount until it clears. 4. After you have taken these necessary steps and you still have a serious condition, call the water department and we will flush the main serving your location. HOWEVER, main flushing will not help your condition until after you have taken the above steps. Thank You, DEPT. OF WATER WORKS
