Bainbridge Saddle Club News

The Saddle Club met for its regular monthly meeting at the club grounds Saturday evening, May 13. Cars lined the drive back to the camping area where the fire was blazing for the

The highlight of the evening was the drawing for the door prize. It was a $5.00 member-

ship given by the Skinners. The lucky winner was Mrs. Eugene Broadstreet who is passing it on to a friend as she is a paid up member. Everyone adjourned for more wiener roasting, marshmallow toasting and visiting. Bill Perkins had to work and was not there to show his film. Flashes of lightning became more evident as time passed, and by the time everyone left the storm was near. Soon it be-

gan to rain. That misty rain which lasted all night persisted throught the next day —- Show Day. In spite of the nasty weather quite a few brave horsemen arrived with slickers and horses to take part. Everything went well throughout the day in spite of the slick arena condition. All the classes were well represented with fine, well trained horses that performed beautifully. Mike Noel of Danville won

both trophies for the day — High Point Performance and High Point Contest When time came to go home, Bill Perkins should have been given a medal for service above and beyond the call of duty. He was there with his truck equipped with tire chains to tow the trucks, trailers, etc., out to the solid driveway. All the men were willing to lend a hand with horse and lariat or manpower to free the stranded vehicles. This just goes to prove that horse people are the nicest, friendliest people you’ll ever meet — even if they are rain-

Sylvia Fletcher told me her mare’s foal is an Appaloosa horse colt. She plans to sell their horses before she joins her husband, Dick. Anyone in; terested? She has three Appaloosas and a thoroughbred quarI ter cross gelding. The Charley Skeltons hays (Continued on Page 5) * '
