A helicopter landed in Morton Saturday afternoon around 2:30 o’clock. A man and his wife from Illinois were en route to Indianapolis to see the qualifications for the 500 race on Sunday. They had intended landing at the airport in Greencastle and refuel but had gotten off their course and were forced to land in Floyd Yochum's pasture on Road 36.

Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Harfcison were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Z. B. Burkett and Mrs. Clarence Humphrey. Mrs. Russell O'Haver spent Thursday and Friday with Mrs. Frank Call in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cooper of Russellville. Mr. and Mrs. James Burk of Clinton Falls called on Mr. and Mrs. Vem Sigler Saturday eve-

ning. Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barker and family were Mr. and Mrs. Don Jefferies and children of Bainbridge R. 1, Mrs. Velma Hobson of Rockville and Mrs. Helen Bosley of Indianapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd O’Haver and son, Mike, were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Russell O’Haver. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Call were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Max Call and sons at the Fairway Sunday noon. Mr. and Mrs. Phil King and daughter, also had dinner with the Calls. OBITUARY James Roy Porter, the young* eat child of Alex and Martha Johnson Porter, was bom June 28, 1893, In Portland Mills. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charlie and Ora, and la survived by hla widow, Charlqtte Hazel, five children, Virginia, William, Elsie, Mary and Jack. He Is aim survived by twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Thompson. Roy is remembered by his close friends as Paddy, a nickname ha was given during hla school days in Portland Mills. He graduated from Bellmore High School in 1911 and later attended Indiana State Teachers College, Terre Haute. Roy taught grade school in Minot, North Dakota for one year before returning to Putnam County in 1914. Later that same year Roy married Charlotte Eiteljorge of Brunerstown. Roy spent most of his adult life in fanning except for a few years he was employed In the construction field. Roy was an outdoorsman, loved wildlife and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be long remembered by his many friends as an ardent coon hunter and rabbit hunter. He wag active In local and national farm organizations until 111 health forced hla retirement from such endeavors. Roy and hit family moved to the Brick Chapel Community la 1982. Hera he raised his five children and operated a farm for the past thirty-five years. Mr. and Mrs. John McGuire spent Sunday with their son, John D. and family. Mrs. Holland Henderson and children of Avon spent one day last week with her parents, Mr. aad Mke. John H. McGuire.
