The Lighter Side
By DICK WEST WASHINGTON UPI — The ability to pick the right husband is not something a girl can learn from a book. It’s a God-given talent. Either you have it or you don’t. Luci Nugent, nee Johnson, obviously has it The first time she met Pat Nugent she must have sensed that here was a young man who was going places. I don’t mean she consciously appraised his financial potential. It is more likely she thought of him in terms of his good looks and pleasing manner. But good looks and pleasing manners, as many a girl has learned to her sorrow, are unreliable points on which to judge a prospective husband. The most handsome and personable fellow in town may, after marriage, turn out to be a dud in the breadwinning department, despite the frantic efforts of his wife to make something of him. Luci Nugent, nee Johnson, undoubtedly had met dozens of handsome, personable young men before she met Pat. Why should it have been him whose attentions she encouraged? I’m convinced it was that instinct that enables some girls
to spot a chap wtlh a bright future. A wee voice inside her may have whispered that among her many beaus he was the only one likely to become a director of a bank at the age of 23. If so, as we now know, the promise that she recognized in him was fulfilled last week when Nugent became a director of the Citizens National Bank of Austin, Tex. One naturally wonders whether Luci’s sister, Lynda Bird, is blessed with similar intuition. The evidence thus far would suggest that she is. The evidence being that she is as yet unmarried. Lynda has been keeping company with actor George Hamilton for quite some time now. Long enough, under normal circumstances, for a romance to lead to the altar, if ever it is going to. Could it be that a wee voice is telling Lynda that Hamilton, for all of his other fine qualities, simply isn’t Academy Award material? This remains to be seen, of course. And the fact that Lynda Bird still dates Hamilton occasionally indicates she hasn't entirely written him off. It may be, then, that Lynda Bird sees something else in
Hamilton. It may be that a wee voice also is saying he could become a director of the Citizens National Bank.

ance, Putnam County Association of Independent Insurance Agents cautions. The Independent Agents Group advise most insurance companies will provide a motor vehicle liability insurance card for Canadians to check at customs posts. Canadian law requires motorists to carry proof of ability to pay in case you are involved in an auto accident. Without it, your car can be seized or im-
pounded.
INDIANA REQUIREMENTS Indiana is fairly typical in its requirements. It requires that a motorist have financial responsibility proof that he can pay as much as $10,000 if he injures or kills a person or $20,000 if he injures or kills several persons in one accident.

The warm glow that casts off darkness; the family grouped around the television set; the small sparkling eyes as you slip the big, beautiful cake from the oven. And you can feel the results... in the soft, smooth touch of your electrically dried clothes... in the comfort of your electrically heated home. In the way you feel... relaxed, with more time to take care of your family, with electricity making life more comfortable and convenient all through your house. You use more electricity than ever before—5% times as much as people used 35 years ago. But it costs you less per kilowatt hour. It's the one thing that has continued to go down in price while almost everything else has gone steadily up. It's one bargain everybody bas a lot of use to. Don’t you agree?

property damage liability will be not less than those set in the Financial Responsibility Law. It is difficult to ascertain the average liability limit carried by drivers in Indiana, but most companies have encouraged motorists to carry more than the minimum required by the state law. Many drivers carry $50,000 bodily injury and $10,000 property damage as a matter of course. Limits going much higher than this are written by all companies. Persons going to the Expo 67 in Montreal must have not less than $35,000 total liability. If an Indiana driver has just the minimum limit, he should increase his policy coverage to satisfy Canadian requirements. An Interprovince Motor Vehicle Liability insurance card has been developed by Canadian authorities. This Card, certifying that liability coverage In sufficient limits is carried, should be secured by the American motorist before he starts
his trip.
Most companies stand ready to provide this card to their customers. Failure to have this liability card could mean that an American driver involved in an accident in Canada could become entangled in unnecessary delay should an accident occur.

and school administrators in such field of instruction. The program is innovative because it could serve as a model to school districts throughout the United States desirous of offering courses or units in Local School Government to adults and students. The Center is under the direction of the Planning Consultant, Dr. Lorin Burt, of Indiana University. Working with Dr. Burt are special consultants in the fields of curriculum, library materials, evaluation, school board procedures and operation, and audio-visual and teaching materials; also the Executive and Curriculum Committees. The Curriculum Committee, which is made up of instructors from the four state universities, has prepared a course of study for the class. The Executive Committee is composed of eighteen superintendents in the eight county area and Dr. Burt, Project Director. They are guiding the program through the stages of planning. Names of outstanding leaders in specific fields have been suggested to lecture on various topics. However, no definite selection has been made as to whom the Center would engage to lecture the units. A library of resource material will be established in each of the participating school corporations and the four state universities.
