Junior Bowlers Hold Annual Banquet Tuesday

The Putnam Co. Junior Bowling Association held its third annual banquet at the Masonic Lodge on Tuesday evening. May 9th. A very eye appealing and delicious dinner was served by members of the Eastern Star. Attendance wise the banquet had grown to one hundred and forty four. The first year banquet had ninety participants, whereas, last year had one hundred and nineteen. It is encouraging to see an increase in number as has occurred in the past two years. We hope to have an even greater number next year and look forward to seeing and meeting parents which may not have been able to attend this year. With support of Interested parents as shown this year, we are sure next year’s banquet will be just as exciting and enjoyable as this one. Without much formality for the occasion, due to high spirits and an air of anxiety about the crowd, Pat Huxford, Lloyd Conyers and Chet Crawley presented one hundred and ten league trophies and four tournament trophies. Patches and certificates of merit were also presented during the evening. Winner of the bowling ball given away by Varsity Lanes Was Jeff Miller. Since this was

only his second season of bowling, the winning of a ball for his own exclusive use was met with a very pleased and amazed expression. (He can now sleep an extra half hour on Saturdays because he won’t have to hurry to the lanes to pick out his favorite alley ball.) Holding true to form in their usual way of thoughtfulness, the boys and girls of the leagues, represented by Del Staley, presented Pat Huxford with a very pretty white milk glass planter which contained a large assortment of plants and vines. At a time such as that, a thank you seems inadequate, however, it is again being repeated, “Thank you, boys and girls."

P. R. Mallory bowling team was the winner of the Greencastle City bowling tournament and received trophies at the annual awards dinner held recently. Left to right, back row, are Don Bassett, Arlie Mitchell, Art Hansen, and Dewey Groover. Front row, left to right: Dave Hewlett and Gib Duell. Bob Greene was absent when picture was made. Dave Hewlett also received a trophy for the high handicap singles.

See you at the Junior State'* Tournament on May 20th, or next Fall at Varsity Lanes.

Golden Q Tourney The Golden Q will be the scene Sunday for a three game elimination pocket billiards tournament for Fillmore teenagers. Twelve teams will be competing in the eight ball elimination matches starting at 12 noon. Parents of the players as well as the general public is invited.
