Dear Heloise: Pure lemon extract will remove the ink stamped prices on products. Use it straight as it domes from the bottle. / I learned this when I saw my grocer remove ink that is used to stamp prices on products. There are several members of our family who work in offices and this is the only way sure have ever found to remove 5nk that we thought was permanent. Mrs. Paul Temple • • * • Well, I could hardly wait to get to the kitchen to try this. J didn’t have any lemon extract, so I used pure orange extract. All I did was pour a drop of it on a purple ink mark! After about five seconds, I wiped it with a paper napkin and it came off slick as a whistle. And how can we thank Mrs. Temple enough? Heloise • • • • Dear Heloise: Why not plant a few extra flower bulbs in cans or flower pots when you do your flower planting? You can enjoy these at home Inside the house or when the plant blooms you will be ready with a lovely gift for an ill friend or loved one. It would mean more because you grew it yourself. I planted tulips and hyacinths for this very purpose, and wrapped the pot with foil and ribbon just like the florists. Mrs. Delbert Futrell • • • • Dear Heloise: Here's a suggestion for bird lovers: « At nesting time, the lint from clothes dryers can be placed outside and within minutes it vanishes. The birds use the lint to secure and line their nest. Mrs. Ray Hassen • e e • Dear Heloise: My young son finds it much

easier to trim the grass along the sidewalk while SEATED on his skateboard! This seems like a very good idea for adults, too. It’s not hard to stay balanced on it Mrs. Anderson • * • • Dear Heloise: If your guests don’t eat all that beautiful molded gelatin salad or dessert, or if it has collapsed into a unappetizing looking mess . . . never mind. Just slide it into a stew pan and set it over very low heat until it barely begins to melt. Leave big chunks unmelted as they will merge with the part which has already melted. Pour it back into another mold and refrigerate. It will all congeal again and be ready to serve at your next meal. Harriet Ruper * * * * Letter of Thought Dear Heloise: I want to pass on a tried and true recipe for treasured and happy memories: Go on family jaunts regularly; but as often as you can, jaunt with each child individually. Warmth, confidence and love are stimulated by this privacy and companionship and it’s something that can never be taken away. How I cherish those memories. Grandmother • • • • Dear Heloise: With the beginning of warmer weather I start planning summer wardrobes for my children. For my small girls I have this idea which is easy and economical: I buy lightweight curtain valances in assorted colors and prints. The decoration is already there and they are a perfect length. The scalloped ones are especially attractive. I cut the valance in half and put skirt elastic through where the rod usually goes. TTien I sew up one seam and put a snappy or button on the back. And guess what I have? One valance makes two adorable skirts for a small girl, and using them sames me time and money. Mrs. R. J. Wicks

Doctor, Td Like To Know—

I SINCERELY want to have my face lifted. My husband, to whom I have been married for 30 years, absolutely does not understand why this should he important to me. He says that he loves me as I am and sees no reason, why I should do it, since I am not in a profession like the theater. Are there any dangers to the operation? How long will the benefits last?

Mrs. M. E. N.Y. City

Dear Mrs. E.: There was a

Dr. Coleman time when plastic surgery of face seemed to he reserved only for people in the moving pictures, the theater and those who are constantly in the public eyet. This is no longer so. Many people have found a new, added inner glow to their lives when, by plastic surgery, they have been given a renewed feeling of well-being. The love your husband has for you is indeed a testimonial to the solid marriage you have enjoyed. The fact that his devotion is as great as it Is should not, however, dissuade you from your decision or desire to have

a “face lift”

It would do you an injustice, however, if you were to have thia operation without his consent and complete understanding of the motives you have

for doing it

The “face lift" operation has been so well-refined that the results are gratifying to the patient and to the surgeon. The operation is performed under general or local anesthesia and

is remarkably safe.

Skilled plastic surgeons and skilled anesthesiologists have reduced the risk to a minimum. It must be understood that any operation, no matter how simple

husband must he in complete accord with you, if you are not to undermine a happy household. The advanced techniques of facial plastic surgery now can almost insure that the cosmetic benefits will last for as many as ten years or more. You have a right to want to look younger and prettier. After all, is this not the reason why women have there hair done, and their faces made-up to he attractive to others and to give to themselves the pleasure of continued beauty? • • • My dentist has ordered a complete set of X-rays of the teeth on my daughter who is nearly 13 years old. We are worried that the X-rays might do damage to her, at this delicate age. Do we have a right to be concerned? Mrs. B. 7. A., Idaho Dear Mrs. A.: Despite my repeated assurances, there are still many readers who, like yourself, are afraid of overexposure to X-rays. You can be sure that if there were the slightest danger, your dentist would not suggest taking the X-rays. The amount of radiation that your daughter will he subjected to is insignificant and can in no way produce the slightest harm at this or any other ago. Doctors and dentists are completely aware of all radiation hazards. You can follow their advice with complete safe-

ty.

QUICK CANNED PEAR CRISP FOR DESSERT IN MINUTES

Reminiscent of the old-fashioned flavor of slowly baked fruit crisp, Quick Pear Crisp features juicy sweet canned Bartletts with a crunchy oatmeal topping. Tempting pear halves grace your favorite baking dish for the base of the dessert. Melt golden butter and let it seep through quick cooking oats, flour and spices for a crumbly topping. Sprinkle the oatmeal, mixture over the juicy pear halves and bake just long enough to become toasty brown. Serve with chilled pour cream. The sure success of Quick Pear Crisp comes from full-flavored canned Bartlett pears. Juicy, sweet Bartletts began their rise to popularity in the United States when Enoch Bartlett found them growing in an abandoned orchard in Boston in 1817. Eventually growers learned that the rich soil of the Pacific Coast was best suited to the precious trees. Growing and preserving methods have improved to make tender canned Bartletts available in large quantities. Add sparkle to your family meals by serving them often in quick desserts, salads, and meat accompaniments.

Speck's Defense Starts Evidence

PEORIA, 111. UPI—The defense today tries to prove Richard Speck, on trial for his life on charges of killing eight nurses, is the innocent victim

of outraged public sentiment. Gerald W. Getty, an attorney who has defended 402 capital cases and has never had one executed, has to cut through a

Police Break Up Burglary Ring

TIPTON, UPI — A sixcounty burglary ring was broken Wednesday by an alert state trooper and deputy sheriff who said they arrested two couples and recovered more than $25,000 in stolen loot. Charged with second-degree burglary were David Stafford, 34, of near Hobbs, his wife, Jean, 31; Lee Van Dusen, of Curtisville, and his wife, Karen. Police said the ring operated in Delaware, Howard, Grant, Madison, Boone and Hamilton Counties.

Drought Is Over WASHINGTON UPI — A government weather expert ; says the five-year drought inthe Northeast apparently is over with water shortages unlikely before July, if at all this summer. Wayne C. Palmer of the environmental data service said Wednesday that above-normal to higher precipitation levels over much of the area since last September had restored a good portion of the region’s depleted water reverves.

State Trooper Fred Leedy and Hamilton County Deputy Sheriff Larry Cook said they recovered the loot from the homes of the suspects after tracing a receipt found on the floor of a burglarized school to Stafford. The officers said the recovered loot included boats, trailers, a motorcycle and a submachine gun, as well as dynamite caps and other explosive equipment. They also found a complete shortwave radio station at Stafford’s home. It included a mast mounted atop a barn.

Airline Banned KINSHASA, The Congo UPI — Sabena Belgian Airlines planes today were prohibited from flying over Congolese territory or using Congolese airports. web of testimony and evidence presented by the state which wants the jury to send the 25-year-old drifter tq the electric chair. It was believed there was an even chance Getty would call Speck to testify in his own defense. The state has built a case based on the words of Corazon Amurao, the 24-year-old Filipino who said she survived the slaughter by rolling beneath a bed. The prosecution wound up its presentation Wednesday after calling 42 witnesses and offering 52 pieces of evidence over a period of eight days. Getty said in his opening statement that he planned to show the jury that Speck was arrested and charged with kill-; ing the young women because he was in the area and the city | of Chicago demanded someone i be named as the perpetrator of i

the crime. Getty said then he believed Speck had been sleeping off a drunk the night of July 13-14, the hours of darkness when a man entered the South Side Chicago apartment that was home to eight young women who were murdered one by on*.
