Bible Thought For Today Such as I have give I thee.— Acts 3:6. Peter had neither silver nor gold, but he healed the lame man. The Church since Peter’s day has vast wealth, it should not ignore the mighty power of faith. It is far better that silver or gold.

Elected To Post Assistant Professor of Physical Education Ruth Lester of DePauw University last weekend was elected to a divisional post in her professional field during a conference in Cincinnati, O. Miss Lester was named chairman of the Camping Division of the Midwest Association of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Her responsibilities call for drafting and executing the Association’s 1969 conference program for personnel specializing in camping training and instruction. Professor Lester co-directed DePauw’s first summer camp for young women last summer.

Certainly more action than the present administration has shown in at least these few but long put off needs. I just wonder how many public spirited citizens of this town really have noticed and are aware of these conditions. 1. Mostly year round a pool of surface water stands at the northwest comer of the local Armory. Kids play in it, and there is a continuous stream of overflow water from it, running unsightly, unhealthy and iced in winter. 2. An unsightly and partially razed dwelling on West Columbia across from Metzger Lumber Company. A fire hazard and children have been seen playing in the open basement-so unsightly that I’m sure no mayor or councilman would like to be a close neighbor. 3. Shadowlawn west to Highway 43 north has long been up for improvement but another “NO ACTION” apparently, tho traffic maximum speed of 10 miles per hour is a fact. An ambulance coming off 43 north at this point could help save a life if just 3 minutes time going to the hospital were saved. 4. Just last week a tall wooden fence on the north Jackson street parking lot fell over on 2 parked cars. Owners have since removed the cars but the fence still lays on the lot, taking up parking space. A stumbling hazard and surely unsightly to local citizens as well as to highway traffic and newcomers, reflecting city management’s neglect or at least inability to get things done. Would the readers of these few observations like to chip in with their remarks to The Banner on these facts, along with any other “city neglects” as a good citizen, in support of a “sincere but anonyomous writer who CARES much for Greencastle.” A Citizen.

In Memory

In memory of Raymond K. McCammack, who died one year ago, April 16, 1966, beloved husband of Ann and loving father of Michael and Shawn. Strange was the way I came, and long and far, And found your love for me, life’s final hope fulfilled For me no lights belond your light emerged. Now the chastened tear salutes you my dear I see no other star above life’s lonely hill I see no other, and I never will. For among life’s turmoil I find no peace or joy How can I when you are not with us anymore. But consoled in the knowledge that we shall all Meet again and be together forevermore ...
