Two Indiana State athletes have captured most valuable player designations in Indiana Collegiate Conference s w i mming and wrestling. Bob Pychinka, a senior from Allentown, Pa., and Larry Dalton, a senior from Detroit, were announced today as winners of

the ICC’s most outstanding player honors in wrestling and swimming, respectively. The Sycamore duo was joined in the post-season announcement by Coach-of-the-Year selections Jim Voorhees, University of Evansville, and Charles Sanders, Indiana State University. Voorhees was named COTY in swimming. Sanders earned his award in wrestling. Both are repeat honor winners from last year. Dalton is a two-time NCAA college division all-American. Never defeated in an ICC swimming meet, Dalton this year won both the 100 and 200 yard freestyle events in record times of :50.0 and 1:51.6 and also swam on the winning 400yard freestyle relay team. Pychinka, like Dalton, never has been beaten by an ICC wrestler in either conference or dual meets. He is a three-time

eonferene* champion, winning this year at the 177 pound level. Co-captain of State’s 1966-67 team, Pychinka had a 10-5 dual record this season.

Sanders put together a 12-S record this trip, a record amassed against what is generally regarded as some of the nation’s top wrestling schools. His ICC mark is nearly beyond reproach. His squad has won four ICC titles in five years including 33 out of 39 possible individual weight titles. Sanders started varsity wrestling at State in 1961 and has led the Sycamores to a 64-20-5 dual record over that stretch.

Indiana Central clubbed DePauw 9-3 yesterday in Indianapolis in the Tigers’ baseball opener. Today, DePauw renewed early spring action, hosting Marian College in a 1 p. m. doubleheader at Blacks lock Stadium. Three first inning errors put the eventual losers in the hole in the first inning when Central jumped out ahead off pitcher BiU Ready, 3-0.

Voorhees has steered Evansville to three ICC swimming championships in four years— the only four years the Aces have had swimming teams. His current squad compiled an 8-3 season record and picked up first in the ICC and twelfth in the NCAA college division with 49 points. Over the four year stretch Voorhees-coached teams have won 33 of 43 dual meets and spawned 10 college division allAmerican swimmers.

The Greyhounds added another in the second and built up a 6-0 lead before DePauw made its move. A pair of walks and a single by sophomore Bruce Buhrandt drove in two runs, but Central cancelled that with the day’s longest blow, a three-run homer. Don Loveless lashed out two of DePauw 1 s seven hits. The remaining five were divided among five men. DPU 000 000 210-3-7-3 IC 810101080-9-9-3

Crawley May Make Comment LAFAYETTE UPI — Lafayette mayor candidate Marion Crawley indicated today he might comment early next week on Atty. Gen. John J. Dillon’s unofficial opinion he could not serve as mayor and hold a job in the city school system at the same time. Crawley, who resigned as Lafayette High School basketball coach and announced for mayor the same day last week, declined comment when he returned from a vacation and learned that Dillon had expressed doubt he could hold both jobs. “I’m going to need some time to investigate,’’ Crawley said and added he might have something to say next Monday or Tuesday. Dillon said a conflict of interest would develop because the mayor appoints members of the school board and the school board sets salaries for school personnel. Crawley had said he planned to remain in the school system, if elected mayor, as physical education and athletic coordinator. These Are Your Questions

_ HOW DOES one proceed if it is suspected that someone in the family has swallowed poison? There is no single remedy for all the accidental poisonings that may occur in the home or in industry. There are many solutions that can be swallowed in error. Drugs, paint removers, II candy medications, cleaning fluids, drain cleaners and even dish washer compounds are only a very

few.

When poisoning is suspected, Dr. Caleyama call for immediate medical help. Be sure to know exactly the name and the type of poisoning involved. Always save the bottle, the can and the poison contents so that the doctor can make an immediate emergency suggestion. Most cities have a poison control center at their local board of health, which can suggest immediate first»aid if they know the nature of the suspected poison. Generally, the victim can benefit by being made to vomit. Household baking soda, salt or mustard in warm water may do this. A finger placed in the back of the throat may induce vomiting. Milk or plain water can dilute the poison if vomiting cannot be forced. It must be stressed that accidental poisonings are avoidable. The house must be inspected against every conceivable possibility to prevent children and adults from paying the penalty for carelessness. • • • Do baby teeth affect the tooth structure of the adult? There has been a false notion that baby teeth do not deserve

dental care since they were go* ing to fall out and be replaced by permanent teeth. Baby teeth that are sacrificed unnecessarily can be responsible for poor tooth structure in later Ufa. Each baby tooth actually saves a place for the permanent tooth that will replace it. When baby teeth are lost too early by accident or by poor dental hygiene the position of the permanent teeth can be affected. The entire dental structure of the adolescent and the adult— and even the shape of the mouth and jaw—can be altered by the premature loss of baby teeth. It is for this reason that young children must be given all the advantages of modem dentistry to preveht cavities and the need for premature extraction of teeth. • • e Is red meat harmful to people with high blood pressure? There was a time when people were warned against red meat if the blood pressure was high. There probably is no valid scientific reason for thin Red meat, when taken In moderation, contains valuable nutrients. The protein in red meats is no different from the protein in other foods. There may be other medical reasons for which doctors sometimes specifically suggest that red meat be avoided. * • • SPEAKING OF FOUR HEALTH—Don’t be ashamed to speak out your emotional problems with your doctor. Dr. Coleman welcomes letters from readers, and, while he cannot undertake to answer each one, he will use questions ht his column whenever possible and when they are of general interest. Address your letters to Dr. Coleman in car* of thi* newspaper.
