105 Years After WASHINGTON UPI—After 105 years, Congress has taken steps to repeal legislation prohibiting the importing of Chinese or Japanese nationals for slave labor. On the strength of a House Judiciary Committee report that "the coolie trade legislation currently serves no useful purpose and presents an unnecessary and disparaging reminder of the past, the House approved its repeal Monday and sent the bill to the Senate.

Personal And Local News Martha Washington Club will meet Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. with Mrs. Laura Perkin*. The Echo Club will meet with Jessie Coleman Wednesday night at 7:30 p. m. with Rosie Cox as assistant hostess. Mrs. Ernest H. Collins and her daughter, Jean, were in Vincennes Saturday. Jean is in college in Tennessee. Mrs. Gloria Scott and her son, Dennis, of Mooresville, had dinner with Mrs. Sylvia Benson of Bainbridge, Friday. Putnamville WSC will meet with Mrs. Walter Williams, Wednesday evening, at 7:30 p. m. V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary will meet Wednesday at 8:00 at the Post Home. All members are urged to attend. Fillmore W. S. C. S. will meet Thursday at 1:30 p. m. in the Recreational Building. There will be election of officers. Mrs. Kenneth Eitel, Sr., and Joanna were the Sunday guests of Mrs. Eitel’s sister, Dr. Josephine Spear, who is a faculty member of Indiana University, Bloomington.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest R. Collins drove to Culver Sunday to visit their son, "Bud,” who is a student at Culver Military Academy. Emily Hendricks is spending her spring vacation from Indiana State, Terre Haute, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hendricks. There will be a meeting of the Women of the Moose at the Moose Home Wednesday evening at 8. All members are urged to attend. The program is entitled “International Night.” Cleon Williams, trustee of Cloverdale Township, announced today that he will be at the Fire House in Cloverdale on March 24, 25, 31, and April 1, from 8 a. m. to 6 p. m. to assess residents of the community. Holy Week services will continue through Thursday night at the Brick Chapel Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. Come and hear Rev. Potts from Burlington, Ind., a gifted speaker, and enjoy the song fest with an enthusiastic song leader, also special music each evening. The Greencastle Christian Church will hold Mid-Week Bible Study (Acts 28) on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p. m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Max Evans, R. 1, Fillmore. Everyone is welcome to this study of God’s Word and Christian Fellowship. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Cooksey of Mooresville, R. OBITUARIES Rites Wednesday At Hadley Church

Mrs. Doris Gerstenberger, 54, who resided at Raccoon, died at the Putnam County Hospital Monday, following an illness of five weeks. Mrs. Gerstenberger was bom July 1, 1912 at Hadley, the daughter of Ray Maden and Edna Baker Maden. She was a member of the Hadley Friends Church. Survivors are her parents and one daughter, Vera, of Hadley/ Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Hadley Friends Church. The body will lie in state at the church one hour preceding the service. Friends may call at the Perkins Funeral Home in Roachdale after noon on Tuesday. Burial will be at Hadley.

Ray S. McGiaais Rites Thursday Ray S. McGinnis, 60, wellknow® Fillmore resident, died Monday evening at his home. He was bom Jan. 18, 1907, in North Salem, the son of Lawrence E. and Sally Christie McGinnis. In Sept, of this year, Mr. McGinnis would have completed 41 years with the American Zinc Products. He was a member of the Fillmore Methodist Church, Fillmore Masonic Lodge, Fillmore Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, Indianapolis, Fillmore Lions Club and Greencastle Elks Lodge.

Rites Wedaesday For Rev. Douglas Funeral services for the Rev. Hugh Douglas, who was killed Monday morning when his car ran out of control and crashed into a culvert one mile south of Terre Haute on rain-slick U.S. 41, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Gospel Tabernacle Church. The Rev. Russell Phillips and the Rev. Harley Weir will officiate. The Rev. Mr. Douglas, R. R. 1, Shelburn, was in charge of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church at Hymera. He was 47. Surviving are the widow, Anna; a son, Gordon, Indianapolis; three daughters, Carol Sue, Darlene and Ruth, all at home, and eight brothers, Wallace, Sheridan, Wilbur, Fillmore, Charles, Green castle, Luther, Darlington, Paul, New York City, Lester, Blue Island, 111., Earl, Crawfordsville, and Raymond, Louisville, Ky. Burial will be in Mt Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the DeBaun Funer-
