Switchmen Bock On Job Today SAN FRANCISCO UPI — Further disruption of Southern Pacific Railroad Sendee in seven western states wag averted today with 1,500 switchmen back on the job after a 14-hour walkout. The brief walkout brought the sprawling line’s service to a standstill. The workers began returning to their jobs Sunday after U.S. District Judge Albert C. Wollenberg issued a temporary restraining order against the Switchmen’s Union of North America. Wollenberg’s order said the switchmen must refrain from blocking service. It will remain in effect until March 20. A hearing on the temporary order will be held Tuesday here. The union staged the walkout at 1 a.m. Sunday in a dispute over seniority rights. The strike brought SP’s service to a halt as other unions honored the switchmen’s picket 1 lines. The states affected were California, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and the city of El Paso, Tex. Indiana Records 7 Traffic Deaths ty United Press Internatienal

I Wall Street I I Chatter | NEW YORK UPI — Goodbody & Co. say? the stock market has stood up well despite adverse economic news recently, suggesting the 1966-67 business slowdown may have been discounted. The company believes prospects for a business recovery in the second half of the year will favor an uptrend in stocks. The company says a substantial advance in the near term does not seem likely until the severity and duration of the current economic adjustment becomes more clearly defined.
Bache & Co. says the market seems to be waiting for a stimulus before resuming an aggressive upswing. Meanwhile, the company feels, the market continues to build a much needed base in the 820-860 area of the Dow Jones industrial average and expects this pattern to continue until the economic picture improves.
The International Statistical Bureau Inc. says prospects for the steel industry for 1967 appear mixed. The company says early earnings estimates by industry leaders do not bear out the contention of government projections for an increase in production and shipments. The company advises against the purchase of steel issues by traders interested in short term profits.
