Ronald Cash, Fillmore senior, was chosen to serve as page in the State Legislature on Friday, Feb. 24, for Rep. John Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Arnold and family moved recently to Washington, D. C. He has been transferred to an IBM plant there.

Mrs. Della Day, who has been a patient in the Ruark Nursing Home for several years, entered the Putnam County Hospital Sunday for treatment of an infected toe. Rita Sanders suffered back injuries when the drivers ed car struck a tree Thursday. The other passengers in the car

were bruised. Ruth Ellen Cash, who was driving, has two black eyes and other injuries. All were using their seat belts. Mrs. Irma Nichols fell on the ice Sunday night and broke her foot and is a patient in the Putnam County Hospital. The Fillmore Volunteer Fire Department made a rim to Bainbridge Wednesday night when the Standard Oil Co. bulk plant burned. Venice Lewis of Indianapolis called on Fillmore relatives Saturday afternoon and were supper guests of the Charles Smiths. Mr. and Mrs. Mort Thomas and family spent Friday evening in Indianapolis visiting her

parents, Mir. and Mrs. John West and Mrs. Thomas’ brother, Jack West and family of Texas were also guests. Recent callers on Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wells were their grand daughter, Mrs. Letha Kerher of Boise, Idaho, Albert Kerher of Greencastle, Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Cunningham of Greencastle, Mrs. Lena Bryan and Mrs. Marjorie Oliver. Mr. and Mrs. William Oliver visited in Greencastle Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Poehlein of Sullivan visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Don Whitehead. Mrs. Ruth Smith visited Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Mabel

Huskey, a patient in the Clay County Hospital. The Beechwood Pleasant Circle met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Evelyn Arnold. ; The president, Mrs. Mary Lou Dudley, read the Easter story from Mark’s gospel. The paper “Your Money’s Worth” was read by Miss Grace Arnold. Mrs. Dudley gave a contest. Winners were Mrs. Oran Buis and Mrs. Flossie Alexander. ; Hostess, assisted by Mrs. Dudley and Mrs. Esther Quick, served delicious refreshments to 18 members and one guest. Next meeting on April 5 with Mrs. Flossie Alexander. Mytron Lisby won 1st place in the 5th District Federation

of Clubs music contest Feb. 25 with a string bass solo. Mytron is a junior in the Fillmore High School. The East Marion Homemakers Club meeting Friday, Feb. 24, with Mrs. Icy Bridges was small because of bad roads. Charles Coshow of Brownsburg visited Thursday afternoon with his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Smith. Circle 1 W.S.C.S. will meet at the Recreation Building on the afternoon of March 9. Tuesday evening, Feb. 28. The families brought basket dinners. Mr. and Mrs. Oran Buis entertained Sunday, Feb. 26 for their daughter, Lillian Jackson’s birthday. Other guesta were Mr. Jackson, their three sons, Jimmy, Rickie and Mickie and Almon Buis. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith spent Tuesday evening with Mrs. Avaril Huller and Mrs. Daisy Youngerman. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Sutherlin are the parents of a son bom Saturday at the Putnam County Hospital. Her mother, Mrs. Teaford of Paoli, came Tuesday to spend a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Larry McGinnis and children of Crawfordsville were Sunday evening supper guests of Mrs. Frances McGinnis. In the evening they visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray McGinnis. John O’Neal, a Fillmore senior, served Friday as a page in the House of Representatives.

Russ Missiles In Cuba Says Bethel WASHINGTON UPI — Defense and State Department officials said today they were satisfied there are no long-range Soviet missiles in Cuba, despite the claims of a former U.S. foreign service officer. Paul D. Bethel, who served as information officer at the U.S. embassy in Havana during Fidel Castro’s rise to power, told the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee Tuesday that the Russians never removed all their offensive missiles from Cuba after the 1962 missile crisis and have since moved more of them in. Bethel said Cuba now has nuclear strike potential from the concealment of caves and hundreds of miles of tunnels honeycombing the Island.
