'WcuAittyfott By Congressman JOHN T MYERS WASHINGTON, D. C. — 7th District Congressman John T. Myers (R-Ind.), of Covington, has announced he will make a number of appearances in the | Seventh District during the next two weeks as Congress observes the traditional Lincoln Day recess. Myers said he or his wife, Carol, plans to attend Lincoln Day dinner scheduled in each of the 13 counties that make up the new district. Following is a list of the dates and sites of the Lincoln Day dinners: Feb. 11—Vermillion County. Parke County. Feb. 13—Fountain County. Feb. 14—Sullivan County. Feb. 18—Owen County, Daviess County Feb. 20—Btown County, Green County Feb. 21 — Putnam County, Warren County Feb. 25—Clay County Feb. 27—Monroe County Feb. 28—Vigo County In addition, the Congressman

U.S. Has Lost In Excess Of 1,800 Aircraft WASHINGTON UPI—United States armed forces have lost more than 1,800 aircraft, including helicopters, to combat and non-combat causes throughout the Vietnam war, it was learned Monday. The figure is about three times the officially announced losses which have included only aircraft lost in combat and have excluded all other losses. It was also learned that defense officials have increased the number of aircraft losses ascribed to enemy action above the officially posted figure of 873 but they have not yet released the new figure. Total losses from 1961 through the end of January 1967, informed sources said, have been 1,133 airplanes of all types to all causes and 682 helicopters. This includes actions in both North and South Vietnam. The portion of this total was attributed to enemy action of all kinds, from mortar shelling to anti-aircraft missile and MIG operations, is 1,188 aircraft— 868 airplanes of all types and 320 helicopters. The so-called operational losses not involving enemy action but attributable to such factors as weather, accidents and equipment malfunctions amounts to 627 aircraft—265 airplanes of all types and 362 helicopters. The unofficial figures cited were said to include all aircraft losses reported to Washington by all the armed forces. But their accuracy still was open to some question because of differences of opinion among the services as to what constitutes aircraft losses and also because of instances of faulty reporting in the past. The figures were said, ho /- ever, to be the best that statisticians have been able to assemble from a multitude of re-

ports.

The announced official figures to date have been 468 airplanes and four helicopters destroyed over the north, and 150 airplanes and 251 helicopters over the south for a total of 873. These were all armed aircraft, apparently.

program passed by the state legislature last year. Romney, regarded as a frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination in 1968, had halted portions of the “Medicaid” program providing doctor, drug and dental services for the “medically indigent" In general, a “medically indigent” person is one who earns too much money in a year $1,900 to be on the welfare rolls, but less than $2,700. Romney had halted the aid on grounds that the costs would outstrip the $21 million the ; legislature appropriated for the purpose by $41 million. Romney’s office said today he would study Kelley’s opinion before commenting on it. Romney took the administrative action Dec. 15, using a legislative declaration as the basis for his action. Kelley said the declaration had no force of

law.

UPI — The trial of George Rockwell, leader of the American Nazi party, was charges of disorderly conduct and obstructing a peace officer was postponed Monday until Feb. 20. Sukarno Faces Treason Trial JAKARTA UPI — Indonesian President Sukarno will soon be removed from office and tried for treason, congress chairman Abdul Haris Nasution said today. A delegation of 300 antiCommunist students today gave Nasution a resolution urging Congress to remove Sukarno and try him for complicity in the 1965 abortive Communist coup attempt. Nasution vowed the resolution “will be implemented.” His declaration came as reliable government sources told United Press International that military strongman Gen. Suharto has “proof positive” Sukarno helped lead the coup attempt.

Cong Guerrillas Inflict Casualties SAIGON UPI — Viet Cong

guerrillas today marked the eve of a holiday cease-fire by attacking four U.S. airfields and inflicting numerous casualties on two companies of American

infantrymen, spokesmen said. U.S. forces marked another

occasion the second anniversary of the North Vietnam airwar by bombing a major railroad complex. The raids on the North resulted in the loss of a plane

of the crewmen aboard.

The U.S. infantry losses were sustained in war zone C where troops of the 25th and 4th divi- ! sions were engaged in operation Gadsden, a five-day-old campaign near the Cambodian border some 75 miles northwest of | Saigon. Spokesmen said Americans locked in a fierce battle with Communist troops called for artillery and air strikes to drive off the guerrillas. U.S. casualties were described as "moderate,” meaning losses among the two companies of some 200 men were substantial but not drastic enough to affect their operational effectiveness.
