By GAY PAULEY N E W Y O R K UPI — The pants, taking over in all other areas of women’s apparel, now walk the bridal path. In a departure from the traditional in wedding gowns, one New York manufacturer shows a trousered bridal gown for spring. The Angelo show of space age bridal finery just happened to coincide with a two-week series of shows of women’s ready-to-wear and accessories from New York manufacturers. The first, this current week, is under the sponsorship of the New York Couture Business

ROCKTON, 111.—The pickets were teen-age boys, some with crew cuts and others sporting “Beatle bangs.” They were picketing Saturday in freezing weather outside a restaurant which displayed a sign reading, “if you do not have your hair cut like a man or boy, you are not welcome here.”
The firm of Junior Sophisticates is known for its regular ready to wear, not for bridal fashions, but the finale of the firm’s show Thursday emphasized the young look for which the firm is famous. The bride wore a short, ribbon embroidered lace dress, a copy of infant apparel, complete with a copy of baby’s cap.

Partner opens with one spade, and the next player passes. You hold: S-Q 10 7 4 2; H-J 9 5 4; D-K 4; C-A 6. What do you
say? Answer: Bid three spades. You have 10 points in high cards (too much for a jump to four spades), 2 points for the doubletons and should count something extra for the fifth trump. The jump raise shows about 13 to 16 points with strong trump support.

Two Israeli civilians were reported slightly wounded. Damascus radio, in a broadcast monitored in Beirut, claimed Syrian “front line forces” opened fire after Israelis first shot at Syrian bordei positions. The Israeli authorities said the Syrians fired 20 tank shells over the border and raked several Israeli targets with machine gun fire. They said the Syrians shot at an Israeli patrol moving toward the besieged tractor.

Post To Fit Her Hours Sought By Part-Timer
By ROBERTA ROESCH Dear Roberta Roesch: In one of your columns, you stated that some firms advertise for housewives to do office work during the day when their children are in school, or during the evening when their husbands are home to take over child care. Watched In Vain I have watched the papers in my area for that kind of attractive offer, since I am a former office worker. But I have seen no advertisements asking for housewives for the hours we can work. How can I find this kind of job?
M.O.M
Dear M.O.M.: Take a hint from Francis Bacon’s words: “If the hill will not come to Mahomet, Mahomet will go to the hill.” Go to firms in your area most likely to have part-time jobs or special shifts for housewives even though these places have not come to you—so to speak—via newspaper advertisements. Some likely businesses to visit in any area (because they sometimes have day and evening hours) are addressing and duplicating services; business schools; insurance companies; investment services; hotels; motels; mailing services; secretarial services; trade and vocational schools; publishing companies; and printing firms. Adjustable Schedules Also try companies that are small enough to adjust their schedules to the hours when they can get part-time help. Look into the temporary help firms that are listed in the classified telephone directory. Dear Roberta Roesch: I followed the advice of one of your columns and took the positive viewpoint that I could brush up on my secretarial skills and get an office job at the age of 45. I landed a job in a week, but my ego is bruised every day, due to the constant reminder that I am the oldest person working in our department. When I mention World War n, for instance, some of my coworker’s who are in their 20s
(even my boss is only 30) look at me as though I’m talking about a date in ancient history.

WASHINGTON UPI — The Agriculture Department estimates world wheat production during 1966-67 at a record 274 million tons, up 27 million tons from the previous year. The department said in a report on the world’s agricultural plans for the new year that higher yields rather than more acreage account for the wheat production increase. Most of the increased production is expected to be in the large exporting countries and in the Soviet Union. North America’s wheat harvest, estimated at 60 million tons, is nearly 4 million tons larger than the preceding year's record, the department said. Although the total of 196667 food grain production in India was moderately above the poor crop of the preceding

Acquire the more positive habit of reminding yourself daily that maturity and experience can be as desirable as youth—as long as you see that they work for you at 40, 50 and 60.
year, grain import needs will remain strong. Japanese imports will be about 500,000 tons above the 1965-66 volume of 8.4 million tons. Looking back over 1968, the department found that new production records were set for cereals, edible oilseeds and sugar. Large declines were reported in coffee and cotton production. Prospects are for a record production of about 17 million tons of edible vegetable oils in 1967, some 6 per cent above the 1966 record output.

But think how often it’s evening when you discover you need a thermometer.. .or a hot-water bottle... or aspirin... not to mention prescription medicatioa. This is the important reason for our extra hours. It’s a traditional service we provide because illness doesn’t keep bankers’ hours either.
