Three Escape In Plane Crash ELKHART UPI—A Minnesota man and his two children escaped injury Tuesday afternoon when their single-engine airplane flipped over during a forced landing on a farm near here. The pilot, Warren Peters, 40, Tyler, Minn., said he was cruising in scattered snow flurries when he noticed his airspeed falling off and decided to put the plane down. He said the landing was normal but one wingtip caught in the soft ground and the plane tipped over. The downed plane was discovered while Peters and his two children, Sylvia, 11, and Roger, 6, were away from the area seeking help. The first police report said a plane had crashed but that there was no sign of the pilot. Peters said damage to the 1953 Piper Cub was about $2,900.

Masferrer and Georges were among 25 of the arrested booked at the Monroe County jail in Key West and charged with violating U.S. neutrality laws. Another 51 were in Miami. Bonds at Key West ranged from $2,500 to $5,000. In Miami, most were let go on recognizance bonds of $100. Those jailed at Key West include four Americans—Joe Garman, Martin Casey, Paul Thenore and William Heuisler. Also jailed in the nation’s southernmost city was Cuban exile Auria Poggio, the lone woman in the force and designated as “quartermaster.” Along with the invaders the federal agents seized a “mountain of arms.” Masferrer claimed one vessel full of arms and invaders already had set sail before the agents arrived. The federal officials, Including the Coast Guard, discounted the claim and said most of the invasion force was “paper.” A 55-foot boat also was seized by the customs agents.
HOLLYWOOD UPI — Inevitability department, movie division: That girl in the television commercials falling off bridges, surviving explosions, and dropping from airplanes to demonstrate a Madison Avenue inspired automobile rebellion now is starring in a new movie titled “The Perils of Pauline.” She is luscious Pamela Austin, a diminutive blonde whom most viewers wouldn’t recognize without a smudge on her nose. Originally “Pauline” was to be a television series. Pamela starred in a pilot film which Universal Studios i s incorporating into the movie version. If the picture comes off well there is a chance a series will be aired next season via ABC-TV. The dangerous stunts in the picture aren’t as harrowing to the 25-year-old Pamela as those she performed for the commercials. She did have a stunt girl doing the rough stuff for her on television, but it was necessary

The car makers, in documents filled with engineering drawings, charts and other data, said they endorsed the government’s concern for car safety. But, they said, some of standards, as written, are impossible to meet. Haddon Is expected to issue his final standards for the 1968 model cars Jan. 31. These would be mandatory for all cars made after Sept. 1—the start of the 1968 model year. The car makers, who turned out just under 8.6 million cars in 1966, would be subject to fines of $1,000 for each car found in violation of a standard.

“I still have a stunt girl doing the dangerous things in the long shots. But when they cut to a close-up it’s me.” Among the perils this particular Pauline survives on film is a canoe ride through rapids, a hang over a waterfalls, a trip through the trees in the arms of a gorilla, an escape from a pack of leopards and a dangling scene over a pool of sharks plastic variety, of course. The original Pauline of the silent flicker serials was Pearl White, a girl who did all her own stunts-favorite- of which was the cliff-hang. Happily, Pamela has no cliff-hangs.
