Syril Ivler is a believer in new opportunities at 40. because of a turn of her own life took after she reached that age. “At this point,” said Syril, “I have my own frozen food business. and I’m stuffing, freezing and packaging heat-and-serve French snails, or escargots as they are called in France. “In mj* business,” SjTril said, *1 stuff imported French Burgundy snails with seasoned ] parsley-butter sauce, package them in disposable oven-ready pans, label them and sell them to department stores, supermar--kets and food shops. Rapidly Ready “They can be served as hot hors d’oeuvres, a first course, or a main course of snails 10 minutes after the package is placed in the oven. “Two years ago while I was looking for ideas for a business that would let me be at home when my children returned from school, I tested several different foods,” said Sj-ril. She had worked as a home economist for a large food concern, did sales promotion for foods and handled food publicity accounts before she became a wife and mother. “As I tested foods and ideas, I ultimately hit upon the thought of preparing, freezing and selling French snails. I felt there was a good market for
them.

WASHINGTON UPI —Meat choices this weekend look attractive with fresh vegetables seasonally limited. Chuck roast cuts, and steaks are the main beef offerings, (with various specials on pork
cuts.
Boston butts, roast cuts, | hams, bacon, and spareribs are in good supply in most areas. In many areas grocers are presenting lamb specials and good prices on leg roasts. Be sure to look for the marks of U.S.D.A. inspection grades on the meat and poultry you buy your assurance that they have been checked by graders and inspectors of the consumer and marketing service. Broiler fryers and egg are other moderately priced protein buys for many selections this weekend.

religious festivals, Hanukkah. began at sundown Wednesday. The celebration, which brings to Jewish homes much the same festive spirit that prevails in Christian homes during the Christmas season, will continue for eight days, through Thursday, December 15. Hanukkah is the Hebrew word for “Rededication.” The holiday commemorates the rededication of the temple in Jerusalem to the worship of God in the 2nd century B.C. The Jerusalem temple, center of Jewish devotions since the, time of King David, had been desecrated by the Syrian tyrant Antiochus, who extended his rule over the Holy Land and sought to suppress Jewish monotheism. In 168 B.C., Antiochus converted the temple to
pagan worship.
Outraged by the sacrilege,
Jews arose in

Rabbinical scholars have attributed symbolice significance to the candle-lighting ceremony. It stands, they say, for Judaism’s faith in the slow', steady victory of spiritual enlightenment over darkness. The holiday is observed with special services in synagogues and religious schools, but most of its gaiety centers in the
home.
