Cubs to Host Martinsville Artesians Saturday Night
Greencastle Tiger Cubs will attempt to get back on the winning track when they duel with the Martinsville Artesians, Saturday at the Uptown Gym. After three opening wins, the Tiger Cubs walked into a buzz saw at Crawfordsville last Sat-
urday when the Athenians shot an amazing 53 per cent from the field to drop the Cubs, 8174. In the fourth quarter, a zone press by the Cubs forced the Athenians into numerous errors, and Greencastle cut the lead

from 11 points down to three and were on the line for a one-and-one, but missed. Greencastle was beaten on the boards, especially in the second half. Pete Norris was in early foul trouble, committing his fourth foul only after a minute of play in the second half, and only returned to the game midway in the fourth quarter. This hurt, as Crawfordsville had a 43-27 edge in rebounds. Martinsville journeys to town with a victory over Rushville, 68-50, and a 68-53 loss at the hands of Warren Central and is in action tonight against Greensburg. In the Rushville contest, the Artesians had three players in double figures, topped by junior forward Dave Dillow’s 24 points. Dillow was quarterback of the football team and is just now rounding into basketball shape. Guard Spencer Barrett, just up from the reserve team, made his presence felt with 12 markers and junior forward Steve Guy followed with 11. Rushville was under par in the game as two regulars didn’t see action. Former Cascade coach John H. Holmes is guiding the Artesians. While at Cascade, Holmes led the Cadets to a sectional title. Last year, Holmes was at Shawswick.

Thanksgiving Camp Following the original thanksgiving custom, four camper families of the Hoosier Campers Chapter No. 1 of Greencastle had their third consecutive Thanksgiving dinner of baked turkey and dressing with all the trimmings in the camp ground at Edgewood Lake. Unlike the log cabins with large fireplaces and feather ticks or straw beds for lodging, the campers had the convenience of weather tight trailers with gas heating, cooking and refrigeration with electricity available for auxiliary heat and lights. The traditional feast was served in the open on picnic tables and a roaring camp fire was very near by which kept everyone very comfortable as well as keeping the food and coffee piping hot.
