LETTER
EDITOR
Dear Editor: Recently our boy came home from service. He is twenty-four years old and he asked the question, Mother where can I go tor recreation in Greencastle? Well I began to study and to my knowledge there is no place for boys and girls to go for recreation in Greencastle. Of course we have a bowling alley but the bowling leagues are in session and it is out of the city limits. Also there is a pool room but girls don’t care about playing pool, and also it is out of town. Now also there is a teenage club but there is one year left out bewteen 19 and 21. Now have you ever looked at what our 20-year-old boys and girls are going to do? Yes, we have our churches and are proud of
them.
Now why is it our town doesn’t grow like others, because the younger generation has to go out of town for recreation. If there was more for our younger generation to do in our town I don’t think there would be so much trouble going on as our young boys and girls would have some place to go besides being on the streets all the time or out in their cars going to some other town to find something to do and occupy their minds. Thanks,
E. D.
Dear Editor: Below is a letter of Thanks from Viet Nam that our son. Darrell, sent to everyone at home for the cards he received on his 20th birthday. Mrs. Dennis J. Buis, Rt. 2, Box 240, Coatesville.
Thank You!
I didn’t realize how much those two words meant until I arrived over here. When I left the States on
Sept. 8, I thought, well no one will even know I’m gone except my family, girl friend and relatives but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The biggest surprise I have ever had came on my birthday, November 5. I received over twenty cards and letters other than those from my family. They were from friends of the family, high school friends, people I haven’t seen or heard of for three or four years and people I have never met. Some just said, “Happy Birthday” and others told of their families in the other two wars but it didn’t really matter what they said, they cheered me and the other men I work with up a great deal. Thank You all again, those who sent cards and letters and those of you that just remembered that we are over here. I feel sorry for the people over here that aren’t from a place that hasn’t got people like those in Putnam County, people who care what’s happening. I would like to ask a favor if I may of those people who has a friend or relative overseas, send them a card or a short letter just to let them know they are not forgotten and that there are people who care about them. Thank You Everyone! Pfc. Darrell G. Buis, U. S. 56 844 622, HQ A Co. A SPT 4th Med Bn. APO, San Francisco, Calif., 96262.

Two little hands are folded Upon a silent breast, The little heart has numbered Its throbs and gone to rest. Two little eyes are closed for-
ever
To earth's unholy sights, Two little cherub’s wings hover in heaven’s golden light, Two little feet have ceased to travel Upon the shores of time, A little gem released from trouble Has gone to shine above. Sadly missed by Mommy and Daddy, Marl and Betty Coff-

In memory of Roscoe Eastham who passed away seven years ago today, Dec. 1, 1959. I often sit and think of him When I am all alone, For memory is the only thing That grief can call its own. His smiles are gone forever, And his hands I cannot touch, But I will never lose sweet memories Of the one I loved so much. Sadly missed by wife and family.
