Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Brown and children of Indianapolis were Sunday supper guests of her brother, Carl Crews and family. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Arnold spent part of last week in Indianapolis, visiting with Mr. and MTs. Leroy Heck. The Band Parents will sponsor their annual Smorgasbord Saturday night, Nov. 5th. Serving will start at 6 p. m. There will be a program by the Beginning Band, Junior Band and Senior Band. Also there will be a Talent Show. As usual “you eat your fill and pay what you will.”

All enjoyed the Pitch-in Supper at the Recreation Building Sunday evening on Family Night. The committee, Miss Kate Oliver and Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Ragan had the tables decorated in keeping with Halloween season, with apples and candy as favors, Mr. and Mrs. Ragan showed slides of the Southwest, back to Indiana, and Putnam County. On October 30, there will be a very important meeting at the Methodist Church following worship service. At about 11:30 a. m. all members and friends of the church should be present to help decide what the future of the church will be. Everyone should make known what he wants and thinks will serve the most people, now, and in the future. Let it never be said that “a few people” determined what the Fillmore Methodist Church will be. Come, make your position known.

Wall Street Chatter NEW YORK UPI — Jay F.' Gershkoff of First Hanover Corp. says he would consider limited initial purchases of high quality blue chip stocks that have been depressed and also consider select oil, tobacco and utility stocks. Sylvan Epstein of Thomas & MsKinnon says of their recent lows many popular growth stocks had achieved downside objectives but will still need to build the bases necessary for any new sustainable uptrend. Robert H. Stovall of E. F. Hutton & Co. Inc. says the chances of “a peace play” look too great between now and the elections for the bears to make much progress, but after the elections, if the peace offensive turns into further war escalation, it could be a different story, he adds.

Cross Burned On Pastor's Lawn FORT WAYNE UPI — A cross was burned Wednesday on the lawn of the home of the Rev. Jesse White, president of the Council of Civic Action which announced plans this week to picket businesses on grounds of racial discrimination in hiring practices. White discovered the cross aflame shortly before 1 a. m. He said two friends watched his home the remainder of the night and an hour after the cross-burning they saw a man walking along the street carrying a rifle. The friends said the man pointed the rifle at them. They notified police, who arrested Wayne R. Hart, 22, and confiscated eight shells and a knife. He was charged with aiming a deadly weapon.
