for the present. 1 Outlook Stressed
I have stressed this outlook i quite often in these fall days, as more than one discouraged woman has come to tell me that she has discovered the present | is not the time for al the things | as she had hoped it would be. Then I think of Carol Stix of ■; Scarsdale, N. Y., who also found out several seasons ago that the present was not the time for all the things she had hoped for. She had to give up returning)
tuberculosis.
I have been in perfect health and simply cannot understand ygz?. how this could have happened at & time when T.B. is no longer a serious
disease.
H N.L.D., Wisconsin Dear Mr. D.: I hope by now Dr. Coleman the active tuberculosis o f your lung is under complete control because of treatment with the new and successful drugs. In an effort to spare other readers from the hardship of this disease permit me ] to emphasize the errors that are so obvious in your letter. Fortunately, you have had the advantage of early diagnosis

Many people attribute a chronic cough to tobacco. It is true that there are chronic cigarette coughs made worse by the combination of tobacco and an infection. However, no chronic cough that lasts for more than a few weeks should
ly X-ray of the chest to flush out hidden unexpected cases of tuberculosis. The American system of pre* ventive medicine is so great that not one single child, adolescent or adult need be deprived of an X-ray of the chest because of Umited finances. Mobile vans travel and crisscross the nation, stopping at every village and hamlet, begging for the privilege of taking X-rays of the entire com-
munity.
Infants and children can be checked by a tuberculin test to find out their susceptibility to
the T.B. germ.
It is only such a concentrated effort that can bring out into the open the many thousand* of hidden cases of tuberculosis that are a threat to people and to those who surround them. It is always shocking to bo told, as you were, that you have tuberculosis. But, it is shocking to be suddenly told that one has any disease. Sorry as the physician is to confront his patient with this unpleasant news, there is some compensation that a cure will be accomplished. T.B. can be acquired from members of tho family and from co-workers in offices and in factories. It is no longer a social disease that must be kept hidden because of the old-fashioned notion that it indicated poverty or poor social
future.
As welcome as a rescue by a Saint Bernard, and small and light-weight enough for him to deliver, this new portable refrigerator from Montgomery Ward weighs less than 80 pounds and measures 19%xl9%x21% inches. Sized to fit any family room, den, patio or office, the refrigerator is dec-
orator-designed in either a teakwood or light walnut wood grained finish. It has a two cubic foot capacity with two full size ice cube trays in the freezer compartment and is available at the local Montgomery Ward store as well as through the Montgomery Ward 1966 fall and winter catalog.

your letter is the suggestion that tuberculosis is on longer a serious disease. T.B. is still present in vast numbers of people who seem to be in good

After these unusual discards Rubbra had the rest of the tricks with the ace of diamonds

After the second trick, in which Rubbra discovered that neither opponent had four t trumps, success depended only on finding the six missing spades divided no worse than 4-2. Even so, careless play |
would lose the contract.
