This week was a busy one for the local Pee Wee ball team and their coach, Don King. The boya entered a
tourney at Cloverdale In which four team* vied for the championship. the host team, Cloverdale, Greencastle, Fillmore and Coatesville. The Clovers on xuesaay evening eliminated Fillmore by a shut-out score and the Coatesville boys were in a real battle with Greencastle. With the sixth inning to play the score stood Greencastle 9, Coatesville 5. When the game ended the score was Coatesville 15, Greencastle' 10. Is is almost unbelievable that these little, old Chizzletown boys could score ten runs and win, yet they did just that. On Thursday evening the championship game got under-
way with the winning Clovers. In the first inning the Hendricks County lads were blanked after loading the bases and the Clovers came to bat. They started like a team of big leaguers by rapping the ball
fans started rooting. Neither team could score in the fifth and then came the sixth and final It proved a big inning for Coatesville as the boys scored four runs and led 7-5. The Clovers came to bat. The

a few singles mixed with Coatesville bobbles. It really looked like a long and sad evening as four big runs were put
on the score board. In the third Coatesville’s second baseman frame another run made the who fired the ball to first and
held it. One man was gone. The next batter lifted a fly that was taken. The third and last man put a hot grounder to

the Pee Wees of Chizzletown had won the tourney 7-5. Don King’s team had rallied when defeat seemed certain and made
to life and scored three runs. ^ ie & ra de. Special credit beHope begun to rise and the ; longs to Bell who did some

Mrs. Avis Pearce, Mrs. Estella Wall and Mrs. Maude Bilderbeck visited Friday with Mrs. Jessie Dyer. Mrs. Osie Watson of Clayton was an afternoon caller. Mrs. Ruth Owens has moved to Indianapohs from the center of town Ellett Apartments. The baby son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Fisher was able to return home Friday after undergoing surgery at the Putnam County Hospital.
Brice Ellett sustained only minor injuries when he was struck by a hit and run driver while riding his Honda from Indianapolis last week. He was thrown from the motorcycle. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hanlon and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sims attended the Sims and Finchum reunion at Robe-Ann Park Sunday. About one hundred people were present to enjoy the day. Cascade’s football squad was at Knightstown Friday and came home a little the worse for the wear and tear. The Knightstown squad scored 12 points the first half and 18 the second. They used passes, end runs, double reverses and any number of things that

seemed to confuse Cascade’s players. There was no time during the game that the Cadets threatened. This Friday the Avon Orioles,, fresh from a victory over Brownsburg, will be at Cascade. The advent of Labor Day brings to mind a farmer of many years ago. When asked, if he observed an eight hour' day on his farm he replied that | he did: ‘‘Eight hours before : dinner and eight hours after.’’ He lived as a good citizen, well into his eighties and never com-1 plained about his work.
John Ruskin said, “It can b« proved with much certainty that God expects no man tc live without working. And it may also be proved that he expects him to be happy in his work. It was written, ‘In the sweat of the brow but it was never written in the breaking of the heart’.” Coatesville Little League team defeated Fillmore 4-3 in a bang-up game Saturday. In the final inning with the score tied 3-3 and two men out, a Coatesville player stole home and that was the ball game.
