Johnson Hosts Six Governors INDIANAPOLIS UPI — The governors of the Great Lakes States have discussed going a step further in their recommendations to President Johnson today by proposing elimination of tolls on the St. Lawrence Seaway. An aide to Governor Branigin said that chief executives of the Midwest states, already on record as seaway tolls, have given informal consideration to proposing abolishment of the exist-

ing tolls. However, he said no decision has been made. Branigin and five other Midwestern governors accepted Johnson’s invitation to a White House luncheon honoring Bolivia’s president-elect, to be followed by a conference with the president on the seaway tolls. A hike in the tolls has been proposed by the representatives of the bonding issue purchasers who financed the seaway. Any elimination of tolls, however, would have to involve assumption of responsibility for paying off the seaway bonds and may not be feasible, the aide said.
