Tutwiler at 46 was rated the favorite over his 28-year-old opponent. He won 11 West Virginia amateur crowns before moving to Indiana, where he was runnerup in the tourney last year. Tutwiler avenged his defeat in the finals last year by eliminating the victor, Larry Tanber of Michigan City, from this year’s tourney. Royer — an Indiana University graduate where he starred on the golf team—was Indiana junior champion in 1958. Tutwiler reached the finals by drubbing Wally Armstrong, Indianapolis, 11 and 10 Thursday in a semi-final match, while Royer stopped Jerry Jackson, Kokomo, 5 and 4. Tu trailer’s lopsided victory was a marked contrast with his earlier tourney matches in which he had to charge from behind on the final holes to barely win. He had trailed Tanber by two holes after 12 in their match
