Wilson Wants Viet Peace LONDON UPI — Prime Minister Harold Wilson plans to outline for Parliament today his plans to persuade the Soviet Union to back a new Viet Nam peace initiative, informed sour-
ces said.
Wilson’s surprise mission to Moscow was announced late Wednesday night in a short, terse statement issued from No. 10 Downing St. It said he will fly to the Soviet capital on
July IS.
Thirteen days later, Wilson will be in Washington for talks with President Johnson. Sources soud the U. S. government was informed in advance of Wilson’s planned new peace bid in

same time, however, it left no doubt that the war was the main reason for his acceptance of an invitation to visit the British trade fair in Moscow July 16-18. A spokesman said Wilson would discuss “world affairs” with Soviet Premier Alexei Kosygin during his visit, his second in six months. Britain and Russia are cochairman of the 1954 Geneva conference on Indochina. The sources said that Wilson, despite repeated rebuffs, would seek to convince Kosygin to join in a call for reconvening of the conference as a matter of

in Viet Nam. Leftwing Laborites have been pressing Wilson to disassociate Britain completely from the U. S. war efforts while pro-American conservatives and liberals demanded more outright support for Washington. Sources said there appeared little doubt Wilson’s announcement will stave off any party rebellion by Laborite backbenchers and that they would support the government in the voting at the conclusion of debate.

Zeis te Meet Negro Leaders
FORT WAYNE UPI—Negro leaders were scheduled to meet | again today with Fort Wayne Mayor Harold Zeis about recent protests over the failure of the mayor to name a Negro to the
city school board.
A half dozen Negro leaders met Tuesday with Zeis but said they were there “just to listen.” There ivas no indication whether they would be “just listen-
ing” again today.
For the first time in nearly a week, there was no protest march to the city hall. But leaders of the Civil Action Council said a march was planned to-
day.
Demonstrators had marched five consecutive days in protest over the school board issue. Zeis, who had been out of town during the first four marches, said Tuesday he had never promised to appoint a Negro to the school board.
